Mainichi Ōkan
The Mainichi Ōkan (毎日王冠, ''mainichi ōkan'') is a Grade 2 horse race in Japan for Thoroughbred colts and fillies aged three and over run over a distance of 1,800 metres at Tokyo Racecourse. The race is run in October and serves as a trial race for the autumn edition of the Tenno Sho. It was first run in 1950 over 2500 metres. The distance was reduced to 2300 metres in 1959 and to 2000 metres in 1962 before the race was run over its current distance for the first time in 1984. It has been rated JRA Grade II since that year and was promoted to International Grade II in 2001. 2014, winner is received priority ballot for Tenno Sho (Autumn). A Shin Hikari
A Shin Hikari (japanese language, Japanese エイシンヒカリ, foaled 3 May 2011) is a retired Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He began his racing career as a three-year-old in 2014 when he won his first five races including the Listed Ireland Trophy. In the following year, he won the Mijakooji Stakes, Epsom Cup and Mainichi Okan in Japan before establishing himself as one of the best racehorses in the world with a victory in the Hong Kong Cup. In the spring of 2016 he was sent to Europe and began his campaign with a ten Horse length, length win in the Prix d'Ispahan. Background A Shin Hikari is a grey horse bred and owned by Eishindo Co Ltd, most of whose horse are named with the "A Shin" (or "Eishin") prefix. Yoshito Yahagi
is a trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. He has been a licensed trainer in Japan since 2004 and since 2014 has won the training title three times. After studying English at Athénée Français for six months, he went to Australia to learn horse training. He says he chose Australia because it was similar to Japan in that horse racing is dominated by speed on turf courses, the stable system, and the quarantine system are very strict and the environment internationally isolated. He has trained Contrail, the 2020 Japanese Triple Crown winner. In the 2021 Breeders' Cup at Del Mar in California, Yahagi trained two winners— Filly & Mare Turf winner Loves Only You and Distaff winner Marche Lorraine. Yuichi Fukunaga
is a Japanese horse trainer and former jockey who has won 29 Grade 1 races in Japan and abroad. He is affiliated with the Japan Racing Association (JRA) in Rittō. His father is former jockey who was said to be a "genius" during his active career, and his uncle is Takashi Kitamura, also a former jockey. His wife is former Fuji TV announcer . Since July 2016, he has a management contract with Horipro together with Yuga Kawada, the entertainment production with which his wife is also affiliated. On December 8, 2022, following his trainer license being issued by the JRA, Fukunaga announced that he would retire as a jockey at the end of February next year and make a transition in to becoming a horse trainer. Yutaka Take
(born March 15, 1969, in Kyoto, Kyoto) is a Japanese jockey. Take made his riding debut in 1987 and currently holds seven all-time records in Japan. He has won at least one Grade 1 race for 23 straight years until 2010, and a graded stakes race for 39 consecutive years. Take has 114 wins to his credit in eight countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States. Kazuo Fujisawa
(born September 22, 1951, in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan) is a retired trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. He had been a licensed trainer in Japan since 1987 and from 1993 until his retirement in 2022 has won the training title eleven times. Three of the horses he trained were voted Japanese Horse of the Year on four occasions: Taiki Shuttle (1998), Symboli Kris S (2002, 2003) and Zenno Rob Roy (2004). Fujisawa was also the trainer of Casino Drive, who won the 2008 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park in New York. Fujisawa retired from horse training on February 28, 2022 as he had reached the age of retirement, with his stable winning the 1,570th race on the day of his retirement. Yukio Okabe
Yukio Okabe ( Japanese: 岡部 幸雄, ''Okabe Yukio'', born October 31, 1948) is a Japanese former jockey and horse racing commentator. He was a member of the Japan Racing Association (JRA) from 1967 to 2005. Darryll Paul Holland (born 14 June 1972 in Manchester, England) is a United Kingdom flat racing jockey who has ridden for trainers such as Luca Cumani, Geoff Wragg, and Mark Johnston. Salios (, foaled 23 January 2017) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the leading juvenile colt in Japan in 2019 when he was undefeated in three races including the Saudi Arabia Royal Cup and the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes. In the following year, he won the Mainichi Okan and finished second in both the Satsuki Sho and the Tokyo Yushun.
