Mahbuba Rahman
Mahbuba Rahman (; born 3 March 1935) is a Bangladeshi singer. She worked in the film industry during 1950s and 1960s. She was the playback singer of ''Mukh O Mukhosh'' (1956), the first Bengali language feature film produced in erstwhile East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1998 by the Government of Bangladesh for her contribution to music. Career Rahman started singing at the age of eight. She was mentored by Shambhu Pal. In 1946, she recorded her first song at All India Radio by the music composition of Samar Das. Rahman released a music album ''"Mahbuba Rahman er Kaaljoyee Gaan"'' in 2015. Khan Ataur Rahman
Khan Ataur Rahman (known as Khan Ata; 11 December 1928 – 1 December 1997) was a Bangladeshi film actor, director, producer, screenplay writer, music composer, and singer, best known for his role in the film ''Jibon Theke Neya'' (1970). He received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Screenplay for the films ''Sujon Sokhi'' (1975) and ''Danpite Chhele'' (1980). He was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2003 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and education The son of Ziarat Hossain Khan and Zohra Khatun, who lived in Singair Upazila, Manikganj District, Rahman was born on 11 December 1928. Mukh O Mukhosh
''Mukh O Mukhosh'' ( bn, মুখ ও মুখোশ, translation='The Face and the Mask', italic=yes) was the first Bengali-language feature film to be made in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). It was produced by Iqbal Films and directed by Abdul Jabbar Khan. The film was released in East Pakistan on 3 August 1956. It was released in Dhaka, Chittagong, Narayanganj, and Khulna. The film was a great success as viewers thronged to watch the first film to be made in the region. It earned a total of during its initial run. Background Abdul Jabbar Khan started working on the film in 1953. East Pakistan was a Pakistani province established in 1955 by the One Unit Scheme, One Unit Policy, renaming the province as such from East Bengal, which, in modern times, is split between India and Bangladesh. Its land borders were with India and Myanmar, with a coastline on the Bay of Bengal. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019. Samar Das
Samar Das ( bn, সমর দাস) (10 December 1925 – 25 September 2001) was a Bangladeshi musician and composer. He became one of the most important music directors in Pakistan and subsequently Bangladesh and was the composer of over 2,000 songs. Early life Samar Das was born into a Bengali Christian family in the Nabadwip Basak Lane of old Dhaka. His family was deeply involved with music and he received his initial training at home. He started his musical career playing the ''bansi'' (Indian flute), guitar and piano at the Dhaka center of All India Radio. Career as leading music director In 1953, he joined HMV as a pianist in their backing orchestra. He became chief music director in 1966 of the Cultural Academy located in Karachi, Pakistan. Saat Bhai Champa
Saat Bhai Champa or Sat Bhai Chompa is a popular folk tale in the Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent. The story was first officially published by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder in the book Thakurmar Jhuli in 1907. The introduction to Thakurmar Jhuli was written by Nobel-Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore.
