MRT Line 5 (Dhaka Metro Rail)
The MRT Line 5 (, ''romanised: Em-Ar-Ti Lain Pachh'') is an approved mass rapid transit line of Dhaka Metro Rail. It will be the third line of the Dhaka Metro Rail system. This line comprises Northern Route and Southern Route. The construction of the MRT Line 5's Northern Route began in 5 November 2023 and is scheduled to commence operation by 2028. Background In 2005, the World Bank published a study report, recommending that the government of Bangladesh build a mass transit system in Dhaka. In the same year, American consultancy firm Louis Berger Group prepared a strategic transport plan for Dhaka. The World Bank helped to develop this plan, which proposed the construction of five MRT lines in Dhaka. The MRT Line 2 () is Dhaka's proposed rapid transit line. Despite the number, it will be the fifth of the Dhaka Metro Rail system and will be operated by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Mohammadpur () is a thana of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Although initially Mohammadpur had grown as a residential area, subsequent commercial places have also been developed as well. Tejgaon () is a thana of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is in the centre of Dhaka, the capital. In 2006, the boundaries of the thana were redrawn when Tejgaon Industrial Area Thana was created out of the former larger area and again in 2009, when Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Thana was created. Adabar Thana is an administrative and geographic unit of Dhaka North City Corporation under the jurisdiction of Dhaka District in Bangladesh. The area is located on the bank of Buriganga river and situated in the western part of Dhaka City. Darus Salam Thana is a thana, an administrative unit, of Dhaka District, Bangladesh. History During the Bangladesh Liberation war, Bengali intellectuals were killed by Pakistan Army in this area.
