MoCCA Festival
The MoCCA Arts Festival, or MoCCA Fest, is an independent comics showcase that typically includes artist booths, slide shows, and educational panels. It was created by the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in 2002 by bringing together over 2,000 artists, publishers, editors and enthusiasts. It was named "Best Small-Press Comics Nexus Anywhere" by ''The Village Voice''. Since 2013, the MoCCA Fest is produced by the Society of Illustrators, following their acquisition of the Museum the previous year. History The MoCCA Festival was held at New York's historic Puck Building from 2002 to 2008. The MoCCA Festival hosted the comics industry's 2004 and 2005 Harvey Awards. Museum Of Comic And Cartoon Art
The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) is a not-for-profit arts organization and former museum in New York City devoted to comic books, comic strips and other forms of cartoon art. MoCCA sponsored events ranging from book openings to educational programs in New York City schools, and hosted classes, workshops and lectures. MoCCA was perhaps best known for its annual small-press comic convention, known as MoCCA Fest, first held in 2002. History MoCCA was founded by Lawrence Klein in October 2001. It was located at 594 Broadway in New York City. On July 9, 2012, MoCCA announced that it would be closing its physical location, effective immediately, due to fundraising difficulties. On August 2, 2012, MoCCA announced plans to transfer their assets to the Society of Illustrators, providing MoCCA with a street-level location in the Society's Upper East Side building. Mocca (band)
Mocca is an Indonesian four-member jazz and swing band based in Jakarta. The band Mocca was formed in 1997 by Arina Ephipania (vocals, flute) and Riko Prayitno (guitar), who met while studying at the National Institute of Technology. In a 2004 interview with The Straits Times Ephipania said ''"Riko was influenced by rock music, I was fascinated by motion picture music and story telling, so we came up with this concept of telling stories in a musical form."'' The other two principal members are Achmad Pratama (a.k.a. Toma) (bass) and Indra Massad (drums). They signed with independent label Fast Forward Records in 2002. The band is popular in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Mocca's fans are called ''Swinging Friends''. Moccas is a village and civil parish in the English county of Herefordshire. It is located west of Hereford. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 105. The parish is mainly farmland with a number of woods, including Woodbury Hill Wood and the Moccas Park Deer Park (though mostly in Dorstone parish). The parish church of St Michael is well known as the site of the very early Welsh Moccas Monastery, founded by Saint Dubricius in the 6th century, as recorded in the ''Book of Llandaff''. The church has a notable monument to the de Fresnes family, lords of the manor in the 14th century. Moccas Court, north of the village, replaced the old manor house which once stood next to the church.
