The MI 84 (French: ''Matériel d'Interconnexion de 1984'', English: ''interconnection rolling stock of 1984''), also known as the Class Z 8100 is a Multi-system (rail), dual-voltage electric multiple unit trainset that is operated on RER B, line B of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid Commuter rail, suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs. The 73 four-car trains were built by a consortium of France, French manufacturers Alstom and Bombardier Transport France, ANF Industrie (which would be purchased by Bombardier Transportation, Bombardier in 1989 before the end of the deliveries). The final assembly of the trains was performed at Alstom's Valenciennes factory and ANF's Crespin, Nord, Crespin factory between 1985 and 1990. The design of the MI 84 was derived from the earlier MI 79 built for the RER B, but with modifications to make it better suited for the RER A line. The MI 09 (French: ''Matériel d'Interconnexion de 2009'', English: ''interconnection rolling stock of 2009'') is a double-deck, dual-voltage electric multiple unit trainset that is operated on line A of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs. The 140 five-car trains were built by a consortium of French manufacturer Alstom and Canadian conglomerate Bombardier. The MI 09 is considered to be a part of Alstom's X'Trapolis Duplex platform and is an evolution of earlier the MI 2N series, which has been in use since 1998. MS 61
The MS 61 (, ) was an electric multiple unit trainset that was operated on line A and line B of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs. The MS 61 borrowed many elements from the Z 23000 railcars built for the Ligne de Sceaux (a predecessor of the RER B), including four pairs of doors on each side of the cars for fast boarding of passengers at stations, but the MS 61 was capable of speeds of up to compared to for the Z 23000. Unlike later rolling stock for the RER lines, the MS 61 lacked dual-voltage capabilities and could only use the RATP's 1.5 kV DC electrical system, limiting them to only operating between and or on the RER A and between Gare du Nord and or on the RER B.
