The MI 79 (French: ''Matériel d'Interconnexion de 1979'', English: ''interconnection rolling stock of 1979''), also known as the Class Z 8100 is a dual-voltage electric multiple unit trainset that is operated on line B of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its suburbs. The MI 79, designed in the 1970s for the RER B which needed dual-voltage (interconnection) trainsets. They were followed by a derivative version, the MI 84, designed in the 1980s to meet the needs of the RER A line, before reassigned to the RER B in the 2010s. Laplace (Paris RER)
Laplace station is a station on the line B of the Réseau Express Régional, a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit line. It is located in the city of Arcueil. History Originally a Sceaux line station, it was rebuilt in the "Art Deco" style by the Compagnie du chemin de fer métropolitain de Paris (CMP) as part of the line's modernization work in the 1930s. The name comes from the eponymous avenue passing below the station. Railway situation The station, built in embankment, has 3 tracks (Track 1, 2 and Z) with a lateral platform, on the east side, for trains going south, and a central island platform for the other two tracks. The Z 23000 was a type of passenger train used by the Compagnie du Chemin de Fer Métropolitain de Paris (CMP). Better known during its 50 years of service as the "Z railcar" ("automotrice Z"), it was introduced in 1937 to serve the Sceaux Line in the southern suburbs of Paris, which had been modernized and electrified by 1937. The MS 61 (, ) was an electric multiple unit trainset that was operated on line A and line B of the Réseau Express Régional (RER), a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France suburbs. The MS 61 borrowed many elements from the Z 23000 railcars built for the Ligne de Sceaux (a predecessor of the RER B), including four pairs of doors on each side of the cars for fast boarding of passengers at stations, but the MS 61 was capable of speeds of up to compared to for the Z 23000.
