MIGATO Politicians
MIGATO (abbreviation of ''Movimiento Independiente Ganamos Todos'', lit. 'Everybody Wins Independent Movement') is a political party in Venezuela. Migato was founded in 1997 by José Gregorio Briceño, the mayor of Cedeño Municipality of Monagas State. "El gato" (the cat) is his nickname and "mi gato" means "my cat". At the 2000 Venezuelan parliamentary election, the party won 1 out of 165 seats in the National Assembly of Venezuela. Briceño was elected as the governor of Monagas in 2004. The 2005 election gave it 1 National Assembly seat again. Though their influence was significant in Monagas, both victories were mainly due to the alliance with the Fifth Republic Movement, which was the party of the president Hugo Chávez. It merged into PSUV on 2007-10-20. In March 2012, Briceño re-founded MIGATO when he was suspended by the PSUV over an oil spill in Monagas, which poisoned the water of the Guarapiche River that the PSUV leaders were claiming was safe to drink. José Gregorio Briceño Torrealba (born July 25, 1965) is a Venezuelan politician. Life Briceño began his political life in 1979 as a member of Acción Democrática (AD). After being expelled from AD in 1991 Briceño founded a political party called Movimiento Independiente Cedeño (MIC). He became mayor of Cedeño Municipality in the regional elections of 1992 and was re-elected in 1995. In 1997 he founded a new political party named MIGATO. This became part of PSUV in 2007. Briceño ran unsuccessfully for the governor of Monagas' office in 1998; however he won a seat in the Venezuelan Chamber of Deputies as Deputy. In 1999 Briceño was a member of the Constituent Assembly. Presidential elections were held in Venezuela on 7 October 2012 to choose a president for a six-year term beginning in January 2013. Henrique Capriles Radonski (; born 11 July 1972) is a Venezuelan politician and lawyer, who served as the 36th Governor of Miranda (state), Miranda from 2008 to 2017. Guarapiche River
Guarapiche River is a river of north-eastern Venezuela. It flows into the San Juan River. Course Its origin is in the canyon named Puertas de Miraflores in the Turimiquire Range. The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (, PSUV, ) is a socialist political party which has been the ruling party of Venezuela since 2007. It was formed from a merger of some of the political and social forces that support the Bolivarian Revolution led by President Hugo Chávez. At the 2015 parliamentary election, PSUV lost its majority in the National Assembly for the first time since the unicameral legislature's creation in 2000 against the Democratic Unity Roundtable, winning 55 out of the National Assembly's 167 seats.
