The M46 is a short metropolitan route in Greater Johannesburg, South Africa. It connects Tulisa Park in Johannesburg South with Springs via Germiston, Boksburg and Brakpan. Route The M46 begins at a junction with the M31 Road (Heidelberg Road) in the suburb of Tulisa Park in the Johannesburg South constituency. West of this junction, it is the M38 Road. The M46 begins by going eastwards as Rand Airport Road, flying over the N17 Highway and meeting the N3/ N12 Highway ( Johannesburg Eastern Bypass) (northbound only), to enter the city of Germiston and meet the M48 Road in the suburb of Gosforth Park. The M48 joins the M46 and they are one road eastwards before the M48 becomes its own road eastwards just north of Rand Airport. N3 Eastern Bypass (South Africa)
The N3 Eastern Bypass is a section of the Johannesburg Ring Road that forms a beltway around the city of Johannesburg, South Africa, as part of the N3. The first section of the freeway opened in 1971, from Buccleuch to the interchange with Main Reef Road in Germiston. This is one reason why Germiston is listed as the southbound destination of this route, from the Buccleuch to Geldenhuys Interchanges, rather than to the Elands Interchange south of Germiston. The remaining section from Main Reed Road to Black Reef Road (Rand Airport Road), which included the construction of the Geldenhuys Interchange, was opened in 1977, linking the Eastern Bypass with the N3 freeway to Heidelberg. The R51 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Bapsfontein with the N3 north of Villiers, via Springs, Nigel and Balfour. Route Gauteng The Route begins at Bapsfontein, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng at the 4-way intersection with the R25 Route and the R50 Route. As Pretoria Road, it heads south-south-west for 10 km up to Petit (East of Kempton Park and north-east of Benoni), where it meets the M44 Metropolitan Route and continues by way of a left turn to become Geldenhuys Street southwards. The R23 is a provincial route in South Africa that links Benoni with Volksrust via Brakpan, Heidelberg and Standerton. Route The R23 begins at the suburb of Birchleigh in the city of Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng at an intersection with the M57 Municipal Route (just south of the M57 Route's intersection with the R25).
