Lerkendal, Trondheim
Lerkendal () is a borough in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The borough was established on 1 January 2005 in a municipal borough reform that reduced the number of boroughs in the city. The borough of Østbyen lies to the east, Midtbyen lies to the northwest, and Heimdal lies to the southwest. The boroughs oversee health, welfare, and education for their residents. The borough is located south of Gløshaugen and Elgeseter, west of Berg, north of Tempe and mostly east of the river Nidelva. Borough
A borough is an administrative division in various English-speaking countries. In principle, the term ''borough'' designates a self-governing walled town, although in practice, official use of the term varies widely. Trøndelag Commuter Rail
The Trøndelag Commuter Rail ( no, Trønderbanen, ) is a commuter train service operating in Trøndelag county, Norway. It was operated by Vy (formerly Norwegian State Railways (NSB)) with Class 92 diesel multiple units, until 7 June 2020 when SJ Norge took over the contract until 2030. The service provides a commuter service connecting Trondheim to its suburbs, between towns in Innherred and as an airport rail link for Trondheim Airport, Værnes. Although passenger services have operated along the lines since 1864, the commuter train was created with an increase of service with existing rolling stock in 1993. In 2019, the system was used by 1.4 million passengers. The main service operates from Lerkendal in Trondheim via Trondheim Central Station and Trondheim Airport Station to Steinkjer on the Nordland Line. Lerkendal Station
Lerkendal Station ( no, Lerkendal holdeplass) is a railway station located at Lerkendal in Trondheim, Norway. The only station on the Stavne–Leangen Line proper, it acts as the southern terminus of the Trøndelag Commuter Rail. The station opened on 1 December 1988 and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Gløshaugen campus of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, SINTEF and Rosenborg BK's home ground, Lerkendal Stadion. Facilities Lerkendal is the only railway station on the Stavne–Leangen Line, a bypass line which was built to allow freight trains to bypass Trondheim Central Station (Trondheim S). Rosenborg Ballklub, commonly referred to simply as Rosenborg () or RBK, is a Norwegian professional association football, football club from Trondheim that plays in Eliteserien (football), Eliteserien. The club has won a record 26 league titles, a shared record 12 Norwegian Football Cup titles and have played more UEFA matches than any other Norwegian team. RBK play their home games at the all-seater Lerkendal Stadion which has a capacity of 21,421. Lerkendal Stadion
The Lerkendal Stadion () is an all-seater football stadium located at Lerkendal in Trondheim, Norway. The home ground of the Eliteserien (2017) side Rosenborg BK, it has a capacity for 21,405 spectators, making it the second-largest football stadium in the country. Lerkendal opened as a multi-purpose stadium on 10 August 1947, as the main football and athletics stadium in Trondheim. Originally the venue was mostly used by the football teams SK Freidig and FK Kvik, and Rosenborg did not become a tenant until 1957. A new grandstand with roof was completed in 1962, and floodlights were installed in 1968. The oldest of the current stands were built in 1996, along with new lighting. Three more grandstands were built between 2000 and 2002, which also saw the removal of the athletics facilities and the sale of the stadium from Trondheim Municipality to Rosenborg. Nidelva
Nidelva is a river in Trondheim Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The name of the long river translates to "the River Nid" since the suffix ''elva'' or ''elven'' is the Norwegian word for "the river". Location The Nidelva starts at the Hyttfossen waterfall which rises from Bjørsjøen, a small lake located just below Selbusjøen, the largest lake in the southern part of Trøndelag County.
