Lyndhurst, Clayfield
Lyndhurst is a heritage-listed villa at 3 London Road, Clayfield, Queensland, Clayfield, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Robin Dods and built from 1896 onwards by Walls & Juster. It is also known as The Reid House. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 12 December 2003. History Lyndhurst is a timber residence erected in 1896 for John Reid, principal of J C Hutton & Co., ham and bacon processors. It was the first substantial house designed by R S (Robin) Dods after his commencement in the Brisbane partnership of Hall and Dods from August 1896. Dods was a prolific, innovative and highly skilled architect whose work moved the Queensland timber house tradition forward. His work was influential and during his lifetime, the "Lyndhurst" design was published more often than any other of his domestic works. Lyndhurst Road
Lyndhurst Road is a residential street in the Belsize Park area of Hampstead. Located in the London Borough of Camden it runs west to east, linking Fitzjohns Avenue to Rosslyn Hill. Until the nineteenth century it was a rural area on the outskirts of the capital, occupied by Rosslyn House and its estate. As London expanded the Rosslyn House estate, as well as nearby Belsize House, were redeveloped into residential streets. The oldest stretch of Lyndhurst Road was laid out in 1862. It follows the route of Chestnut Walk (also known as Rosslyn Grove) a much older approach towards Rosslyn House. Rosslyn House, once an important country estate, was finally demolished in 1896 after much of its estate had already been sold off for redevelopment. Its gatehouse, designed by S.S. Nicholas Simon Lyndhurst (born 20 April 1961) is an English actor. He began his career as a child actor and is best known for his role as Rodney Trotter in the BBC sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses'' (1981–2003). Francis Leonard Lyndhurst (born Lindhurst Francis Schmitz; 2 March 1878 – 31 May 1952) was an English theatrical scenery painter, film producer and film director. He is known for setting up an early film studio at Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. Early life Lindhurst Francis Schmitz was born in Kensington, London, England on 2 March 1878. He was baptised, a son of Francis Henry Schmitz, a clerk from Paris, and his wife, Annie Maria (née Mower), at St Clement, Notting Hill in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea on 26 May 1878. Career Lyndhurst's first films, beginning with ''The Showman's Dream'' in 1914, were made at Shoreham Fort, by his production company, Sealite, or Sunny South Film Company. He set up the Glasshouse Studio in a nearby, glass-sided, building, in 1915. The business failed and he returned to his former occupation of scenery painting. John Singleton Copley, 1st Baron Lyndhurst, (21 May 1772 – 12 October 1863) was a British lawyer and politician. He was three times Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain. Background and education Lyndhurst was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of painter John Singleton Copley and his wife Susanna Farnham (née Clarke), granddaughter of silversmith Edward Winslow (silversmith), Edward Winslow. Lyndhurst is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States, and an eastern suburb of Cleveland. The population was 14,050 at the United States Census 2020, 2020 census. Lyndhurst, also known as the Jay Gould estate, is a Gothic Revival country house that sits in its own park beside the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York, about a half mile south of the Tappan Zee Bridge on US 9. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. and   History The home was designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, and owned in succession by New York City mayor William Paulding Jr., merchant George Merritt, and railroad tycoon Jay Gould. Lyndhurst is a large village and civil parish situated in the New Forest National Park in Hampshire, England, about nine miles () south-west of Southampton.
