Lux Prima
''Lux Prima'' is a collaborative studio album by American singer-songwriter Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Danger Mouse. It was released in March 2019 under BMG Records. Composition With ''Lux Prima'', the duo craft "sprawling, soulful ndcinematic" psych rock. 1960s orchestral pop and the "packed and dusty" sound of 1990s trip hop are also worked in. Other styles featured include disco, funk, soul, and lounge-pop. Reception ''Lux Prima'' was well received by critics upon release. ''The Guardian'' called it "complex and lingering," praising Karen O's songwriting in particular. Pitchfork also praised the album, recognising Karen O and Danger Mouse had "concocted a lush, vivid world on their dreamy and poignant collaboration." Pitchfork did criticize the choruses on the record, saying "Lux Prima works better as a journey than a destination"..."that never sounds better when going nowhere fast." Karen O
Karen Lee Orzolek (born November 22, 1978) is a South Korean-born American singer, musician, and songwriter. She is best known as the lead vocalist of the indie rock band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Early life Karen Lee Orzolek was born in Seoul, South Korea, the daughter of a Korean mother and a Polish-American father. The family moved to the United States in 1980, living in Englewood, New Jersey, where she grew up and graduated from Dwight-Englewood School. About her childhood, she stated that "it's almost embarrassing how well-behaved I was, which is probably why I do things like spit water on myself on stage as an adult". Samuel Benjamin Cohen (born September 28, 1979) is an American rock vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. A founding member of the psychedelic rock and pop music, pop band Apollo Sunshine, he released several albums with the group in the early 2000s. In 2009 he formed the solo project Yellowbirds, releasing the debut album ''The Color (album), The Color'' in 2011. This release was followed by ''Songs from the Vanished Frontier'' in 2013. Lounge music is a type of easy listening music popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000.
