Luke Georgeson
Luke Ian Georgeson (born 14 April 1999) is a New Zealand cricketer. Georgeson holds an Irish passport, and became eligible to represent the Ireland cricket team in early 2022. Career Georgeson made his List A debut on 5 February 2020, for Wellington in the 2019–20 Ford Trophy in New Zealand. Prior to his List A debut, he was named in New Zealand's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his first-class debut on 11 March 2021, for Wellington in the 2020–21 Plunket Shield season. In April 2021, Georgeson was named in the Northern Knights' squad ahead of the domestic season in Ireland. He made his Twenty20 debut on 18 June 2021, for Northern Knights in the 2021 Inter-Provincial Trophy. He also finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the 2021 Inter-Provincial Cup, with 317 runs. 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament that was held in New Zealand from 13 January to 3 February 2018. It was the twelfth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the third to be held in New Zealand (after the 2002 and 2010 events). New Zealand was the first country to host the event three times. The opening ceremony took place on 7 January 2018. The West Indies were the defending champions. However, they failed to defend their title, after losing their first two group fixtures. Following the group stage fixtures, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa had all qualified for the Super League quarter-final stage of the tournament. 2021 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2021 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the ninth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition that was played in Ireland in 2021. It was the fifth edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status. The tournament was played as a series of three-day festivals between four teams. On 25 March 2021, Cricket Ireland confirmed the fixtures for the tournament. On 9 April 2021, Cricket Ireland announced the revised fixtures for the tournament, with number of matches increased from 12 to 18. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions. 2020–21 Plunket Shield Season
The 2020–21 Plunket Shield was the 92nd season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in New Zealand. It started on 19 October 2020 and finished on 6 April 2021. Wellington were the defending champions. On 15 June 2020, New Zealand Cricket announced the first round of contracts for domestic teams ahead of the 2020–21 season. The full schedule for the tournament was confirmed on 8 October 2020. The season started on 19 October 2020, with the opening two matches affected by the weather, with them both ending early during the tea break on the first day. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis.
