Ludvig Petersen
Ludvig Adolph Petersen (31 May 1848 – 10 April 1935) was a Danish architect, teacher, and a founding member and board member of the Danish Association of Architects. Petersen primarily worked as an architect in Vejle and Aarhus. Career Petersen was originally trained as a carpenter between 1865 and 1868. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he graduated with a degree in architecture. Between 1872 and 1880, he was a teacher at the technical school in Copenhagen. He later moved to Vejle, where he worked both as a teacher and principal in the Vejle Technical School between 1880 and 1888. From 1888 to 1918, Petersen lived and worked in Aarhus as a teacher at the city's technical school. From 1877 to 1880, he worked as the conductor at the renovation of Aarhus Cathedral under Vilhelm Theodor Walther. In 1880, Petersen opened his own architects' practice. Holmens Cemetery
Holmen Cemetery (Danish language, Danish: Holmens Kirkegård) is the oldest cemetery still in use in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was first located next to the Royal Danish Navy, naval Church of Holmen in the city centre but relocated to its current site on Dag Hammarskjölds Allé in the Østerbro district in 1666. Edvard Petersen
Edvard Petersen (4 February 1841 – 5 December 1911) was a Danish painter. He also designed the Stork Fountain on Amagertorv in Copenhagen. Petersen, Edvard Frederik ''Dansk biografisk Lexikon'' Access date January 1, 2021 Biography From 1851 he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In the 1860s and 1870s he painted romantic landscape paintings under influence of Vilhelm Kyhn. He was a close friend of fellow painter Theodor Philipsen and together they went on several travels, including two stays in Italy between 1875 and 1880 and a visit to France. The friendship did not seem to influence Petersen's rather conservative style of painting and his works from the times abroad are generally traditional paintings of local life. Holmen, Copenhagen
() is a water-bound neighbourhood in Copenhagen, Denmark, occupying the former grounds of the Holmen Naval Base, Royal Naval Base and Dockyards. In spite of its name, deceptively in Grammatical number, singular, Holmen is a congregation of small islands, forming a north-eastern extension of Christianshavn between Zealand and the northern tip of Amager. Holmen was created by a series of land reclamations to house the Holmen Naval Base after it was moved from Gammelholm and used to occupy the entire area, but activities have gradually been moved elsewhere. Since the early 1990s, the area has instead been redeveloped for other use as a new district of the city, while the remaining naval facilities are confined to the northernmost islet of Nyholm. Samsøgades School () is a public primary school in the Midtbyen district of Aarhus, Denmark. The school offers reception classes, 0 through 9 grades and after-school activities for some 500 students across 22 classes (2016). History In 1909, the paid school system in Aarhus was abolished in favor of a public school system, effectively ending 100 years of polarization in the school system. Teaching was homogenized and standardized so ideally all students had equal opportunity. Combined with rapid population growth the number of students grew and it became necessary to build a number of new schools in the early 20th century. Læssøesgade School (Danish language, Danish: Læssøesgade Skole) is a public primary school in the Frederiksbjerg district of Aarhus, Denmark. The school offers reception classes, 1 through 10 grades and after-school activities in the ''Skolefritidsordning'' (Sfo). History In 1916 it was decided to build a new co-ed school in southern Aarhus in response to rapid population growth. The site chosen was what at the time was the edge of the city. The architect Ludvig Petersen had previously and recently worked on the Samsøgades School, Samsøgade School from 1914 and was chosen for the new project. The school was finished in 1921 and inaugurated on 16 April. The new school proved an expensive project at 1.5 million Danish Kroner compared to the 400.000 the Samsøgades school had cost.
