Samsøgades School () is a public primary school in the Midtbyen district of Aarhus, Denmark. The school offers reception classes, 0 through 9 grades and after-school activities for some 500 students across 22 classes (2016). History In 1909, the paid school system in Aarhus was abolished in favor of a public school system, effectively ending 100 years of polarization in the school system. Teaching was homogenized and standardized so ideally all students had equal opportunity. Combined with rapid population growth the number of students grew and it became necessary to build a number of new schools in the early 20th century. The architect Ludvig Petersen had already built the schools in Ingerslevs Boulevard, ''Finsensgade'' and ''Fjordsgade'' and he was commissioned for another school project to be situated where the former epidemiological hospital had been situated in the northern section of the city. Education Minister of Denmark (, ), or Minister of Education in Denmark, is a Danish minister office currently held by Mattias Tesfaye in the Frederiksen II Cabinet. The office was created in 1916 when the post Kultus Minister was split up into the posts of Education Minister and Church Minister. The new Church Minister also took over the responsibility for culture from the Culture Minister, a task later transferred to the Minister for Cultural Affairs in 1961. Læssøesgade School (Danish language, Danish: Læssøesgade Skole) is a public primary school in the Frederiksbjerg district of Aarhus, Denmark. The school offers reception classes, 1 through 10 grades and after-school activities in the ''Skolefritidsordning'' (Sfo). History In 1916 it was decided to build a new co-ed school in southern Aarhus in response to rapid population growth. The site chosen was what at the time was the edge of the city. The architect Ludvig Petersen had previously and recently worked on the Samsøgades School, Samsøgade School from 1914 and was chosen for the new project. The school was finished in 1921 and inaugurated on 16 April. The new school proved an expensive project at 1.5 million Danish Kroner compared to the 400.000 the Samsøgades school had cost. Lassøgade School was larger but the causes of the cost difference can mainly be found in the First World War and the ensuing inflation. Ashlar () is a cut and dressed rock (geology), stone, worked using a chisel to achieve a specific form, typically rectangular in shape. The term can also refer to a structure built from such stones. Gothic Revival (also referred to as Victorian Gothic or neo-Gothic) is an Architectural style, architectural movement that after a gradual build-up beginning in the second half of the 17th century became a widespread movement in the first half of the 19th century, mostly in England. Hans Hedtoft
Hans Hedtoft Hansen (21 April 1903 – 29 January 1955) was a Danish politician of the Social Democrats who served as the prime minister of Denmark from 1947 to 1950 and again from 1953 until his death in 1955. He also served as the first president of the Nordic Council in 1953. Hedtoft was married to Ella Gudrun Ingeborg Holleufer. She died in 1954 from Addison's disease, aged 48. Political career Hedtoft was a Social Democrat, and had taken over the leadership of his party from Thorvald Stauning in 1939, but was forced by the Nazis to resign his posts in 1941 because he was too critical of the German occupation of Denmark. Midtbyen (lit. "The Mid-town"), also known as Aarhus Center or City, is the inner part of Aarhus.
