Ludhiana Gas Leak
On 30 April 2023, eleven people were killed and nine others were hospitalised when a gas leak occurred in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. The incident left several others unconscious in their homes. Cause The official source of the leak is yet to be confirmed. A National Disaster Response Force team along with experts reached the site to determine the cause and source of the leak. According to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the leak was from a factory. A gas leak refers to a leak of natural gas or another gaseous product from a pipeline or other containment into any area where the gas should not be present. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is a specialized force in India, tasked with the responsibility of responding to natural disasters, natural and man-made disasters. It operates under the National Disaster Management Authority (India), National Disaster Management Authority of Ministry of Home Affairs (India), Ministry of Home Affairs and was established in 2006 with the aim of strengthening disaster management capabilities in the country The responsibility of managing disasters in India is that of the state governments.
