''Low Kii Savage'' (stylized as ''low kii savage'') is the debut extended play (EP) by American singer and songwriter Kiiara. It was released on March 22, 2016, through Effess, Atlantic Records, and Warner Music Group. The EP was produced by Casper and B., Brenton Duvall, Felix Snow, and executively produced by David Singer-Vine. Composition Musically, ''Low Kii Savage'' is a set of songs where Kiiara breathily sings over gloomy electronic pop and trap instrumentals about, according to writer Chester Chin, "casual flirtations and epic parties." Andy Kellman of AllMusic compared it to the works of Jhené Aiko, Lorde, and Banks. Critical reception Brennan Carley of ''Spin'' magazine wrote that on ''Low Kii Savage'', Kiiara "possesses all the chill of mint gum but her hooks are bubblelicious." Kiara Saulters (born May 24, 1995), known professionally as Kiiara, is an American singer-songwriter from Wilmington, Illinois. She is currently signed to Atlantic Records. Her 2015 single "Gold" peaked at number 13 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. She is also known for contributing vocals to Linkin Park's 2017 single "Heavy". Early life Kiiara was born on May 24, 1995, in Wilmington, Illinois. She attended Wilmington High School where she played for the school's volleyball team. While recording her breakout EP, she also worked as a hardware store clerk. She started a studio internship to help familiarize herself with the music process and get practice recording. Okayplayer is an online hip-hop and alternative music website and community, described by ''Rolling Stone'' as a "tastemaker" and "an antidote to dull promotional Web sites used by most artists".
