Longcat
Longcat (c. 2002 – 20 September 2020) was a Japanese domestic cat that became the subject of an Internet meme due to her length. Longcat, whose real name was Shiro, was born in 2002. An image depicting her being held with "outstretched paws" became popular on Japanese imageboard Futaba Channel, where it was nicknamed Nobiko ("Stretch" in Japanese) some time around 2005 or 2006. She was reportedly "from head to toe". Subsequently, the meme spread to English-language websites, primarily 4chan's /b/, where it was Image editing, edited into various images, and even had a song written about it. A backstory was invented for the cat, involving a world-ending battle called "Catnarok" with a nemesis named "Tacgnol" (resembling Longcat with the colors inverted). In a 2019 interview, Longcat's owner said that the cat was "originally rescued after being discovered on the street in 2002", and at the time was thin with gray hair; as she grew older, she became white and fluffy. Meowth, known in Japanese as , is a List of Pokémon, Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon, ''Pokémon'' media franchise, and the first stage of its Gameplay of Pokémon#Pokémon evolution, evolved form, Persian (Pokémon), Persian. Long Boi
Long Boi (before 2018April 2023) was an unusually tall male duck that lived by Derwent College, University of York, England. He was thought to be an Indian Runner duck-Mallard cross, standing out among the other ducks on the campus due to his height. He went viral and became an internet meme in 2021. His popularity saw him become an unofficial mascot for the university. At least one commentator has branded him 'Britain's most famous duck'. In May 2023, Long Boi was presumed dead, having not been seen on campus for several weeks. A memorial service for Long Boi was held on 26 September 2024, which was presided over by Greg James and broadcast live on BBC Radio 1, and culminated with the unveiling of a bronze statue of Long Boi.
