Alexander Pavlovich Lobanov (russian: Алекса́ндр Па́влович Лоба́нов; 30 August 1924 – April, 2003) was a Russian outsider artist known particularly for his detailed self-portraits, noted for their frequent inclusion of guns and for their self-aggrandizing nature. Early years Born in Mologa in 1924, Lobanov contracted meningitis before five years old and was left deaf and mute. In 1937, his family was relocated from their home town of Mologa to make way for the construction of the Rybinsk Reservoir, forcing him to abandon his studies at the school for the deaf he was attending. A very rebellious and aggressive child, and having lost his access to support and rehabilitation, he became increasingly volatile until his family had him confined to a mental asylum in the nearby city of Yaroslavl in 1945. Prince Nikita Dmitrievich Lobanov-Rostovsky (russian: Никита Лобанов, Никита Дмитриевич Лобанов-Ростовский) (born 6 January 1935), known as Nikita Lobanov, is a Russian Rurikid, geologist, banker, and notable art collector of Russian stage design of the period of 1880–1930 (in particular designs for ''Ballets Russes''). Lobanov was born on 6 January 1935 in Sofia, Bulgaria, to Russian émigré parents, Dmitry Ivanovich Lobanov-Rostovsky and Irina Vasilievna (née Vyrubova, and from an old Russian noble family). He is a collector of costume and stage designs by Russian artists (1890–1930s), including Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Prince Yakov Ivanovich Lobanov-Rostovsky (25 March 1760 – 18 January 1831) was a Russian statesman. Life His father was captain of the Horse Guards and so in 1781 Yakov enlisted in Semyonov Regiment, where he served at the rank of captain. In 1784 he became a 'kammer-junker' and in 1793 a chamberlain. Thanks to his good connections, in 1794 he was appointed Chief Procurator to the Senate Department, then to a post in Moscow to oversee the affairs of the Senate department, the theatres and the government offices.
