Llanos
The Llanos ( Spanish ''Los Llanos'', "The Plains"; ) is a vast tropical grassland plain situated to the east of the Andes in Colombia and Venezuela, in northwestern South America. It is an ecoregion of the tropical and subtropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands biome. Geography The Llanos occupy a lowland that extends mostly east and west. The Llanos are bounded on the west and northwest by the Andes, and on the north by the Venezuelan Coastal Range. The Guiana Highlands are to the southeast, and the Negro-Branco moist forests are to the southwest. To the east the Orinoco wetlands and Orinoco Delta swamp forests occupy the Orinoco Delta. Rhyolite ( ) is the most silica-rich of volcanic rocks. Llanite
Llanite is a porphyritic rhyolite with distinctive phenocrysts of blue quartz (a rare quartz color) and perthitic feldspar (light grayish-orangeish). The brown, fine-grained groundmass consists of very small quartz, feldspar, and biotite mica crystals. Llanite comes from a hypabyssal porphyritic rhyolite dike that intrudes Precambrian metamorphics in the Llano Uplift of central Texas. Published radiometric dating on this llanite indicates that it is 1.106 billion years old (late Mesoproterozoic). The quartz crystals found in llanite are blue hexagonal bipyramids. Llanito or Yanito () is a form of Andalusian Spanish heavily laced with words from English and other languages, such as Ligurian; it is spoken in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar. Sandra Isabel Llano-Mejía (born 1951) is a Colombian multimedia artist. She is considered "a pioneer of video art in Latin America". In the 1970s and 1980s, Llano-Mejía's video art was shown throughout Mexico and the United States. She has an interest in technology in her artwork, such as computers and medical equipment. In the 1970s Llano-Mejía worked in xerox art. Llano-Mejía attended in Cali, Colombia; followed by studies at Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (ENAP) in Mexico City; National Autonomous University of Mexico; and Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico City. Gonzalo Queipo de Llano y Sierra (5 February 1875 – 9 March 1951) was a Spanish Army general. He distinguished himself quickly in his career, fighting in Cuba and Morocco, later becoming outspoken about military and political figures which led to his imprisonment, removal from posts and involvement in plots against Spanish governments. He was a Nationalist military leader during the Spanish Civil War under Francisco Franco, gaining the soubriquet "''El general de la radio''" ("radio" or "broadcasting general" in English media) for his threats and explicitness on air.
