Llanfaelog
Llanfaelog () is a village and community in western Anglesey, Wales. It is situated some 13 kilometres south-east of Holyhead and 22 kilometres west of the city of Bangor. At the 2001 census, it had a population of 1,679, increasing to 1,758 at the 2011 Census. The community includes Rhosneigr, Bryn Du, and Pencarnisiog. The population of the village itself is less than 400. Geography Llanfaelog is bordered by Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn to the north, Bryngwran to the northeast, Pencarnisiog to the east, Bryn Du to the southeast, Aberffraw to the south, and Rhosneigr to the west. The main railway line to Holyhead passes close to the village, between it and the coast which is about a mile to the southwest. The A4080 road branches at Llanfaelog; a loop goes northwest to Rhosneigr railway station, curves to the left to reach Rhosneigr on the coast and then continues round Llyn Maelog to rejoin the direct branch of the road half a mile south of the village of Llanfaelog. Rhosneigr
Rhosneigr () is a village in the south-west of Anglesey, north Wales. It is situated on the A4080 road. It is south-east of Holyhead, and is on the Anglesey Coastal Path. From the clock at the centre of the village can be seen RAF Valley and Mynydd Twr ( Holyhead Mountain). The towns of Holyhead and Llangefni and the city of Bangor are all within easy travelling distance. The village contains four caravan sites, three campsites, holiday homes and bungalows, pubs, hotels, cafes, a village hall, a chapel, residential homes, a school, a fire station, a convenience store and post office, a pharmacy and a fish and chip shop. Bryn Du
Bryn Du (meaning: ''Black Hill'') is a village in Anglesey, in north-west Wales. The village is situated about 1 mile from Rhosneigr and in the community of Llanfaelog. The village has a range of houses, some dating back to 1800s. The original Methodist Chapel in Bryn Du was built in the East side of the Village 1795. There is an ATM at the Spar shop on the main road through the village. Tŷ Croes railway station is just over a mile away. Pencarnisiog is a village in the community of Llanfaelog, Anglesey, Wales, which is 132.9 miles (213.8 km) from Cardiff and 218.5 miles (351.6 km) from London. There is a Welsh-medium primary school, Ysgol Gynradd Pencarnisiog, in the village, founded in 1911. As of January 2018, the school had the second highest percentage of pupils (aged 5 and over) who spoke Welsh at home in Wales, at 95.6%. In 2024, 89.8 per cent of pupils spoke Welsh at home. A4080 Road
The A4080 is a British A road which is located on the Island of Anglesey, Wales. It follows a very roundabout route from the A5 road at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll via Newborough and Rhosneigr back to the A55 and the A5 about south of Holyhead. In all the road is about long. The route The A4080 branches off the A5 at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, bridges the main railway line and heads south. At first it runs parallel with the Menai Strait but then moves further inland passing through the village of Brynsiencyn, where there are some sharp bends, and curving round the village of Dwyran. Another sharp bends leads to a straight section of road which passes the Anglesey Model Village. This section ends in a roundabout from which the last exit turns northwestwards and soon reaches Newborough where the B4221 branches off to the right. Rhosneigr Railway Station
Rhosneigr railway station serves the village of Rhosneigr on the Isle of Anglesey, off the coast of north Wales. The unstaffed station is managed by Transport for Wales Rail, who also operate all trains that serve it. History The station was opened in May 1907, much later than the other Anglesey stations on the North Wales Coast Line. It was closed between 1 January 1917 and 1 February 1919 as an economy measure during World War I. Unlike the other stations it has neither sidings or a goods yard. The station buildings were originally made of wood but in the early 1950s they were replaced by stone structures. Of these, the structure on platform one remains whilst the one on platform two has been replaced by a metal and plastic bus stop-style shelter. The A55, also known as the North Wales Expressway (), is a major road in Wales and England, connecting Cheshire and North Wales. The vast majority of its length from Chester to Holyhead is a dual carriageway primary route, with the exception of the Britannia Bridge over the Menai Strait and several short sections where there are gaps in between the two carriageways.
