''Live at Easy Street'' is a live EP by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam that includes songs taken from a surprise in-store performance at Easy Street Records in West Seattle on April 29, 2005. The EP was released on vinyl to celebrate Record Store Day on April 13, 2019. Overview Pearl Jam performed a sixteen song set on April 29, 2005 at Easy Street Records in Seattle, Washington in support of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores, however only seven of those songs are included on this release. The album was released exclusively to independent record stores on June 20, 2006 through J Records. The album contains covers of the Avengers' "American in Me", the Dead Kennedys' " Bleed for Me", and X's "The New World", the latter of which features X's John Doe. Bleed For Me (Dead Kennedys Song)
"Bleed for Me" (B-side "Life Sentence") was the sixth single by punk rock band (music), band Dead Kennedys. It was released in July 1982 on Alternative Tentacles. The music is cold and intimidating, and the lyrics describe kidnappings and torture carried out by a secret police (presumably the Central Intelligence Agency). There follows a bridge, then the music becomes light and almost cheerful as the lyrics describe US foreign policy as utilizing murderous dictatorships to secure economic concessions that favor United States, American corporations. Exene Cervenka (born Christene Lee Cervenka; February 1, 1956) is an American singer, artist, and poet. She is best known for her work as a singer in the California punk rock band X. Music career The 21-year-old Cervenka met 23-year-old musician John Doe at a poetry workshop at the Beyond Baroque Foundation in Venice, California. Cervenka started working there. Billy Zoom (guitar) and John Doe (bass and vocals) founded X in 1977, with D.J. Bonebrake coming aboard as drummer. Penelope Houston (born December 17, 1958) is an American singer-songwriter best known as the singer for the San Francisco-based punk rock band the Avengers. She was raised in Seattle. In the mid-1970s she attended Fairhaven College in Bellingham, Washington.
