Lionhead is a breed of domestic rabbit recognized by the British Rabbit Council (BRC) and by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA). The Lionhead rabbit has a wool mane encircling the head, reminiscent of a male lion as its name implies. Other Lionhead characteristics include a high head mount, compact upright body type, short well-furred 2- to -inch ears, and a weight of 2.5 to 3.75 pounds. History The Lionhead rabbit originated in France and Belgium; although it is not recognized by the French Federation of Cuniculture. It is reported to have been produced by breeders trying to breed a long-coated dwarf rabbit by crossing a miniature Swiss Fox and a Netherland Dwarf rabbit, Netherland dwarf. Lion Head is a summit located 49 miles (79 km) east-northeast of Palmer, in the northern Chugach Mountains of Alaska. This iconic landmark of the Matanuska Valley is set alongside the Glenn Highway midway between Anchorage and Glennallen. It is situated at the confluence of Caribou Creek with Matanuska River and less than two miles (3.2 km) northeast of the terminus of Matanuska Glacier. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains into the Matanuska River and topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above the river in 0.3 mile (0.5 km). An ascent of the summit involves hiking 2.3 miles (round-trip) with 1,100 feet of elevation gain, on land owned by AT&T. This landform's descriptive toponym has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names. Priest Lake is a lake in Idaho, United States, in the northernmost portion of the Idaho Panhandle, northeast of Spokane, Washington. The northern end of the lake extends to within of the Canada–United States border. The primary lake, lower Priest, is long and over deep. Upper Priest is connected by a thoroughfare to lower Priest. History The history of the lake dates back almost 10,000 years to the end of the last ice age. After the vast glaciers that had covered most of the area receded and vegetation started to regrow, humans started to resettle the area. That is evident from historical artifacts found in the area and ancient rock art along the lake. In the early 19th century fur trappers established trade with the native Kalispel tribe. In the 1840s Jesuit priest Pierre-Jean DeSmet began working with the Kalispel tribe along the nearby Pend Oreille River.
