Lin Kuo-hua
Lin Kuo-hua (; 19 September 1935 – 27 July 2016) was a Taiwanese politician. Early life Lin was born in Gukeng, Yunlin, in 1935. He attended Taichung Municipal Taichung First Senior High School and completed a degree in civil engineering at National Taiwan University. Activism and political career Lin was active in the farmers' rights movement, and headed the , as well as a similar protest in 1993. He was elected to the Legislative Yuan as a representative of Yunlin County affiliated with the Democratic Progressive Party for the first time in 1998, and won a second term in 2001. During his unsuccessful reelection bid in 2004, Lin was investigated for bribery, as were fellow candidates Ho Chin-sung and Chen Chiang-sun. In 2005, Lin lost a party primary for the Yunlin County magistracy election to Su Chih-fen. He was later appointed vice chairman of the Council of Agriculture (COA). Gukeng, Yunlin
Gukeng Township () is a rural township in the easternmost part of Yunlin County, Taiwan. It is the largest township in the county. Yunlin County (Mandarin pinyin: ''Yúnlín Xiàn''; Taigi POJ: ''Hûn-lîm-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Yùn-lìm-yen'') is a county in western Taiwan. Yunlin County borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Nantou County to the east, Changhua County to the north at the Zhuoshui River, and Chiayi County to the south at the Beigang River. National Assembly (Republic Of China)
The National Assembly was the authoritative legislative body of the Republic of China, commonly referred to as Taiwan after 1949, from 1947 to 2005. Along with the Control Yuan (upper house) and the Legislative Yuan (lower house), the National Assembly formed the tricameral parliament of China. If still functional, at 3,045 members, the National Assembly would have been the largest parliamentary chamber in the world. Similar to other electoral colleges, the National Assembly had elected the President and Vice President under the 1947 Constitution of the Republic of China with the role of the constituent assembly that aimed to amend the country's constitution. The first National Assembly was elected in November 1947 and met in Nanking in March 1948. However, in the next year, the Kuomintang-led government of the Republic of China lost mainland China in the Chinese Civil War and retreated to Taiwan.
