Ligue 2
Ligue 2 (, League 2), also known as Ligue 2 BKT due to sponsorship reasons, is a French professional football league. The league serves as the second division of French football and is one of two divisions making up the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the other being Ligue 1, the country's top football division. Contested by 18 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with both Ligue 1 and the third division Championnat National. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 34 games each, totalling 306 games in the season. Most games are played on Fridays and Mondays, with a few games played during weekday and weekend evenings. Play is regularly suspended the last weekend before Christmas for two weeks before returning in the second week of January. RC Strasbourg
Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace, commonly known as RC Strasbourg (, ; RCS) or simply just Racing, is a French professional association football club founded in 1906 and based in the city of Strasbourg, Alsace. The 2025–26 Ligue 2, commonly known as Ligue 2 BKT for sponsorship reasons, will be the 87th season of Ligue 2. The season will begin on 8 August 2025 and is set to conclude on 8 May 2026. Teams Changes Montpellier will return to Ligue 2 after 16 years of being in Ligue 1. FC Lorient and Paris FC were promoted to Ligue 1 after one and seven years in the second tier, respectively. Caen were relegated to Championnat National after 6 years in the second tier and will play in the 3rd tier for the first time since 1984 and after a 41 year absence.
