''Life'' (stylized ''LIFE'') is the second studio album by American industrial metal band Dope. It was released on November 6, 2001 on Epic Records and Flip Records. ''Life'' has sold over 73,000 copies in the United States The album's sound bears a resemblance to those of Marilyn Manson and features some rap metal influences. This was Dope's last album released on Epic and Flip, as the band severed ties over Epic Records' lack of promotion. Dope is an American industrial metal band from New York City, formed in 1997. The band has released seven full-length studio albums with their most recent studio album, ''Blood Money Part Zer0'', being released in February 2023. The lineup currently consists of founding member and lead singer, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Edsel Dope, lead guitarist Virus (musician), Virus, bassist Acey Slade, and drummer Daniel Fox. As of 2022, they have sold over one million albums worldwide. History Early days (1997–1998) The band was founded in 1997 by songwriter and lead vocalist Edsel Dope. As a child, Edsel and his brother Simon Dope were separated when their parents divorced. Andy Wallace (born 1947) is an American record producer and audio and mixing engineer. Over the years, he focused exclusively on mixing. Career Wallace was born in New Jersey. In 1974, he began his career as a chief engineer in his own studio in Los Angeles. After a few years of moderate success, he returned to New York City during the emergence of hip-hop in the early 1980s. Leor Dimant (, , ; born December 18, 1972), better known as DJ Lethal, is a Latvian-American turntablist and producer and is best known as a member of the groups House of Pain and Limp Bizkit. Early life Leor Dimant was born to a Latvian-Jewish family in Riga, when it was part of the Soviet Union. His first contact with music was through his father Grisha Dimant (1951–2007), who performed in a rock band with his friends as a guitarist. In 1976 when Dimant was four, he and his family emigrated to Italy, where they remained for a year until they obtained a visa. His parents chose to move to the New York area. In the field of recorded music, a hidden track (sometimes called a ghost track, secret track or unlisted track) is a song or a piece of audio that has been placed on a CD, audio cassette, LP record, or other recorded medium, in such a way as to avoid detection by the casual listener. Tod Rex Salvador (born June 29, 1965), known professionally as Tripp Eisen, is an American musician best known as the former guitarist of industrial metal band Static-X. He is the current guitarist for the band Face Without Fear, and a former member of Dope, Murderdolls, and Roughhouse. Career Dope (1997–2000) Dope was formed in 1997, when Eisen met with brothers Edsel and Simon Dope. Eisen brought in friend Preston Nash to play drums, and the band worked the New York City club circuit.
