Liana Kerzner
Ed the Sock is a sock puppet character, created and voiced by Steven Joel Kerzner, who first appeared on Canadian local cable television in 1987. He is best known for his hosting appearances in the 1990s on MuchMusic and his own late night talk show, '' Ed's Night Party''. He is a gray sock puppet with green hair, round eyes, a scowl, a cigar and a rough, gravelly voice. Since the acquisition of MuchMusic by Bell Media, causing the cancellation of the majority of its music programming, the Ed the Sock character has continued to be portrayed through FU Network and NewMusicNation. Steven Joel Kerzner
Steven Joel Kerzner is a Canadian actor, producer and television personality best known for his portrayal of Ed the Sock, originally appearing on CityTV and MuchMusic (until its decline in 2013). Kernzer has continued to portray the character through his own media initiatives FU Network and NewMusicNation. Career As a teenager in 1984 Kerzner began volunteering through a student co-op program at Newton Cable, a small local station in Downsview, Ontario. It was at the station that Kernzer developed the Ed the Sock character. Requiring a co-host on short notice, so Kerzner took a sock and other supplies from the station's craft closet and made a sock puppet with glue caps for eyes. ''Fromage'' is an annual Canadian one-hour special produced by the MuchMusic cable channel. ''Fromage'' paid "tribute" to music videos considered the worst or cheesiest of the year by MuchMusic staff. History The special was created in 1988 by songwriter (and MuchMusic VJ) Christopher Ward. Christopher William Ward (born 28 July 1949) is a Canadian songwriter and broadcaster, known as a former long-standing on-air personality at MuchMusic, Canada's music video network, where he and J. D. Roberts were among the first video jockeys in 1984. Ward was a judge on '' The Next Star'' which was a Canadian reality television show on YTV. Early career Born in Toronto, Ontario, Ward began his music career in the early 1970s while attending Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, where he was a member of the school's campus radio station. Much is a Television in Canada, Canadian English language Discretionary service, discretionary specialty channel owned by BCE Inc. through its Bell Media subsidiary that airs programming aimed at teenagers and young adults.
