Li Li (badminton)
Li Li (; born 7 July 1983) is a Chinese-born Singaporean badminton player. Early life Li was born in Wuhan, China and moved to Singapore in 1997. She became a Singapore citizen in 2002. Career Li won the 2002 Commonwealth Games women's singles gold medal by beating favourite Tracey Hallam of England in four sets, causing a major upset for the home team. It was the first Commonwealth Games badminton gold for Singapore. Li was part of the women's team at the 2003 Southeast Asian Games which won the gold medal. Li also played at the 2004 Summer Olympics, losing to Gong Ruina of China in the round of 32. At the 2006 Asian Games, she was part of the women's team which took the bronze medal. Li resigned from the Singapore Badminton Association in January 2008 and returned to Wuhan. Awards Li received the 2003 and 2005 Meritorious Award from the Singapore National Olympic Committee. Wuhan
Wuhan (, ; ; ) is the capital of Hubei Province in the People's Republic of China. Singapore Badminton Association ( abbreviation: SBA) is the national governing body for badminton in Singapore. It governs, encourages and develops the sport throughout the country. Founded in 1929, the SBA is an affiliate of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC). It is also a member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia, which was formerly known as the Badminton Asian Confederation. Xiao Luxi
Xiao Luxi (born 19 July 1982) is a Singaporean former badminton player. Early life In 1997, she came from China as a 14-year-old, and together with Li Li, Frances Liu and Rong Muxi, were Singapore badminton's pioneer batch of foreign talent. Career Xiao was the first of the quartet to make a mark internationally, partnering Liu Zhen to victory at the 2001 Hong Kong Open. That was Singapore's first win on the Grand Prix circuit, and the duo once climbed as high as 11th in the world. Bolton Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena, located at Middlebrook on the boundary between Horwich and Lostock in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. It has a seating capacity of 6,000 people and hosts indoor sporting events.
