Lewis Richardson (boxer)
Lewis Richardson is an English boxer who as an amateur won a bronze medal in the 71 kg category at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal at the 2022 European Championships and competed at the 2019 World Championships. Career Born in Colchester, Richardson began boxing at a young age as a means to keep fit while playing football. After winning the 2012 National School Boy Championships he decided to focus on boxing. In 2018 Richardson was selected to box for Team GB. A few months after the selection he suffered three stress fractures in his back, leaving him out of action for most of the year. After recovering from the injury he won gold medals at the 2018 GB Championships and 2019 Olympic Test Event, securing him a reserve spot for the European Olympic Qualification Event. Boxing At The 2023 Pan American Games – Men's 71 Kg
The Men's 71 kg competition of the boxing events at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, was held between October 22 and 27 at the Olympic Training Center. A total of 15 boxers from 15 NOC's competed. The two finalists will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Qualification There was a quota of 130 boxers to compete at the games (ten per event). The host nation (Chile) received automatic qualification spots for all events. The remainder of the spots were awarded through various qualifying tournaments. However, the International Olympic Committee later decided the competition was an open registration event, meaning any NOC could enter a boxer into the event. England Boxing, known until 2013 as the Amateur Boxing Association of England, is the governing body of amateur boxing clubs in England. There are separate organisations for Scotland and Wales with boxing in Northern Ireland being organised on an All-Ireland basis. The Association was founded in 1880.
