Leuth (Netherlands)
Leuth is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Berg en Dal (municipality), Berg en Dal, about 10 km east of Nijmegen. Leuth was founded on a sandbank in the floodplain marshes north of the river Waal (river), Waal. The earliest mention of the settlement, named ''Lotde'', dates back to 891 and 892. The village belonged until 1815 to Prussia; Leuth was a separate municipality until about 1814. It became a part of the Prussian municipality Niel, Germany, Niel, until it was transferred back to the Netherlands in 1817, as a part of the municipality of Ooij en Persingen, which later has become a part of the municipality of Ubbergen.Ad van der Meer and Onno Boonstra, "Repertorium van Nederlandse gemeenten", KNAW, 2006. Gelderland
Gelderland ( , ), also known as Guelders ( ) in English, is a Provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands, located in the centre-east of the country. Berg En Dal (municipality)
Berg en Dal (literally in English: ''Mountain and Valley'') is a municipality in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. It was formed through a merger of the municipalities of Groesbeek, Millingen aan de Rijn and Ubbergen in 2015. The resulting larger municipality maintained the name of Groesbeek until 2016, when it was renamed to Berg en Dal after the village of Berg en Dal. Berg en Dal has about 34,714 inhabitants and covers an area of about 93 km². The municipality borders in the north on the Waal river and the Bijlands Kanaal, in the east on the German forest of the Reichswald, in the south on the province of Limburg, in the southwest on the forest of the Mookerheide (also Limburg), and in the west on the city of Nijmegen. Berg en Dal is slightly hilly with altitudes reaching 75 meters at the Duivelsberg, a hill in the municipality. Nijmegen ( , ; Nijmeegs: ) is the largest city in the Dutch province of Gelderland and the ninth largest of the Netherlands as a whole. Waal (river)
The Waal ( Dutch name, ) is the main distributary branch of the river Rhine flowing approximately through the Netherlands. It is the major waterway connecting the port of Rotterdam to Germany. Before it reaches Rotterdam, it joins with the Afgedamde Maas near Woudrichem to form the Boven Merwede. Along its length, Nijmegen, Tiel, Zaltbommel and Gorinchem are towns of importance with direct access to the river.
