Leukental
The Leukental is a valley in North Tyrol in the district of Kitzbühel in Austria. The Leukental runs north to south from the Thurn Pass to the Bavarian border, but is not just defined as the main valley but includes several smaller side valleys. The river flowing through the Leukental is known as the ''Jochberger Ache'' from its source at the Thurn Pass to Kitzbühel, then as the '' Kitzbühler Ache'' from Kitzbühel to St. Johann in Tirol and, from its confluence with the ''Fieberbrunner Ache'' near St. Johann in Tirol, as the ''Großache''. After leaving the Leukentals and Tyrol the river is known in Bavaria as the ''Tiroler Ache'' until it discharges into the Chiemsee lake, and its valley is known as the Achental. Jochberg, Tyrol
Jochberg is a municipality in the Kitzbühel district of Tyrol, Austria. It is the southernmost municipality in the Leukental and is located south of Kitzbühel. Oberndorf () is a municipality in Kitzbühel district in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Kirchdorf In Tirol
Kirchdorf in Tirol is a municipality in the Kitzbühel district in the Austrian state of Tyrol located north of Kitzbühel as well as north of Sankt Johann in Tirol at the Kitzbühler Ache. By area, Kirchdorf is the second largest municipality in the district. The village obtained its name from an old church which was built in the 8th century. Kitzbühel Alps
The Kitzbühel Alps ( or ''Kitzbühler Alpen'') are a mountain range of the Central Eastern Alps surrounding the town of Kitzbühel in Tyrol, Austria. Geologically they are part of the western slate zone ( greywacke zone). Location Two-thirds of the Kitzbühel Alps lie within the Austrian province of Tyrol, the remaining third is in Salzburg province. They are about long from east to west and 25 to 35 km wide. They extend from the Ziller valley and Tux Alps in the west to the Saalach river and Zell am See on Lake Zell (''Zellersee'') in the east. North Tyrol
North Tyrol, rarely North Tirol (), is the main part of the Austrian federal state Tyrol, located in the western part of the country. The other part of the federal state is East Tyrol, which also belongs to Austria, but doesn't share a border with North Tyrol. Besides those two regions, the historical region of Tyrol for many centuries also included South Tyrol and the historical region of Welschtirol, which were annexed by Italy after World War I. It borders Bavaria (Germany) in the north, the Kufstein and Schwaz districts in the west, and the Pinzgau region (Salzburg) in the east and south. Thurn Pass
Thurn Pass (el. ) is a high mountain pass in Austria, in the Kitzbühel Alps. It connects Kitzbühel in Tyrol with Mittersill in Salzburg. The Jochberger Ache has its source near the pass. A series of peatland mires in the pass have been designated as a protected Ramsar site since 2004. Lifts There are several chairlifts and T-bar lifts at the pass. A gondola lift connecting Hollersbach im Pinzgau with the ski resort of the Thurn Pass opened in December 2005. In 2005 The Gondola connected The Hollersbach area to the Kitzbühel ski area. Again in summer 2011, The Resterhöhe double chairlift and Moseralm T-bar were replaced with a new modern six-person detachable chairlift with weather bubble and seat heating. These lift improvements are part of a large lift improvement plan that started back in 2004. Since then, fifteen new gondolas and chairlifts have replaced older ones across the ski-resort. Chiemsee () is a freshwater lake in Bavaria, Germany, near Rosenheim. It is often called "the Bavarian Sea". The rivers Tiroler Achen and Prien (river), Prien flow into the lake from the south, and the river Alz flows out towards the north.
