Gemma Hayes
Gemma Hayes (born 11 August 1977) is an Irish musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments, including the piano and the harmonica. She is also a member of The Cake Sale, Printer Clips and Trio (with Lisa Hannigan and Paul Noonan). Early life Hayes grew up in Ballyporeen, County Tipperary with her parents and seven other siblings. She was surrounded by music from an early age heavily influenced by her siblings and her father who was a keyboardist in a local band. Hayes would later move to County Limerick to attend boarding school. By this time, Hayes was proficient at piano and found that the music used to counter the boredom of living in a small village. She would later move to Dublin, Dublin City to attend University College Dublin, UCD to study sociology, psychology and history. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. "Back of My Hand" is the third single by Irish singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes taken from her '' Night on My Side'' album release. The single was released in Ireland on 26 September 2002. The single was released Source Records. Two versions of the single were released - incorporating slightly different covers and track listings. The second CD was very limited upon release and the single was only available in Ireland. A re-worked version of the track appeared on the 2003 US release of '' Night on My Side''. A digital version of the song appeared on iTunes on 1 March 2003. Music video The music video was directed by Sam Brown. The video was shot on location in America and features Hayes avoiding two business men dressed in suits. Towards the end of the video Hayes stumbles across a child. Acoustic Music
Acoustic music is music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sound through acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. While all music was once acoustic, the retronym "acoustic music" appeared after the advent of electric instruments, such as the electric guitar, electric violin, electric organ and synthesizer. Acoustic string instrumentations had long been a subset of popular music, particularly in folk. It stood in contrast to various other types of music in various eras, including big band music in the pre-rock era, and electric music in the rock era. Samantha Brown (born 7 October 1964) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Brown is a blue-eyed soul and jazz singer, and ukulele and piano player.
