The ''Legend of Aphroditian'' (or ''Aphroditianus''), also known as the Narrative of Events Happening in Persia on the Birth of Christ, is an expansion of the story of the Adoration of the Magi found in the Gospel of Matthew. It is often known as a section of , a 6th-century story detailing a debate between Christians, pagans, and Jews in Sasanian Empire, Sasanian Persia. The ''Legend of Aphroditian'' is a part of New Testament apocrypha, stories of New Testament figures that did not become canonized. The oldest extant manuscripts are written in the Koine Greek language, and pre-modern translations into other languages such as Old Church Slavonic, Slavonic exist. It was probably originally written at some point in the era of early Christianity. In the legend, the Persian king goes to the temple of the goddess Hera to have a strange dream interpreted. The codex (: codices ) was the historical ancestor format of the modern book. Technically, the vast majority of modern books use the codex format of a stack of pages Bookbinding, bound at one edge, along the side of the text.
