Legacy Effects
Legacy Effects, LLC is an American visual effects studio specializing in creature design, prosthetic makeup, animatronics, and specialty suits. History Founding partners Lindsay Macgowan, Shane Mahan, John Rosengrant, and Alan Scott supervised projects at Stan Winston Studio for over 20 years before Winston's death in 2008. After his death they formed their own company, Legacy Effects, with their first film being ''2012'' (2009). Their first film outside of the United States was the Indian film ''Enthiran'' (2010), which was used for prosthetic makeup and animatronics. Visual effects (sometimes abbreviated as VFX) is the process by which imagery is created or manipulated outside the context of a live-action shot in filmmaking and video production. The integration of live-action footage and other live-action footage or CGI elements to create realistic imagery is called VFX. VFX involves the integration of live-action footage (which may include in-camera special effects) and generated-imagery (digital or optics, animals or creatures) which look realistic, but would be dangerous, expensive, impractical, time-consuming or impossible to capture on film.
