Lazarus Annex
The Columbus Auditorium was the name of two mixed-use venues in Columbus, Ohio. The first was extant from 1897 to 1910; the second stood from 1927 to 1992. For the last 50 years of its existence, the auditorium building was known as the Lazarus Annex, an expansion of the flagship Lazarus department store. Goodale Street Auditorium The Goodale Street Auditorium (also known as the Columbus Auditorium) opened on June 24, 1897. Architects Yost & Packard designed the auditorium; in doing so they remodeled an older structure, the Park Roller Skating Rink, which had opened on March 17, 1885. The building sat at the northeast corner of Park and West Goodale Streets. It was a wooden building with ornate towers on its four corners. Franklin County Memorial Hall
Franklin County Memorial Hall, also known simply as Memorial Hall, is an office building, multi-use facility, and memorial for war dead in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The building is best-known today as the headquarters of Franklin County Public Health. Uses The building currently holds the offices of Franklin County Public Health (the county's health department), Franklin County Veterans Services, and still retains a war memorial. Lazarus Building
The Lazarus Building is a commercial building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was the flagship store of the F&R Lazarus & Company, a department store founded nearby in 1851. The building, completed in 1909, housed the Lazarus department store until 2004, one year before its brand was retired. The building currently houses numerous state and county offices, the Ohio State University Urban Arts Space, and restaurants and a bank branch in its storefronts on High Street. Attributes The present-day building has had many expansions and renovations, and today occupies much of a city block. It has five stories facing High Street, increasing to seven stories on Front Street. The West Town Street facade of the building is largely as originally built. The Taft Coliseum is a 5,003-permanent seat multi-purpose arena located at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. History It opened in 1918 and is nicknamed "The Barn". Yost & Packard
Yost & Packard was an architectural firm based in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The firm included partners Joseph W. Yost and Frank Packard. It was founded in 1892 and continued until Yost moved to New York City in 1899, after which Packard took up practice in his own name. The firm was known for many public buildings, and the prolific use of masonry, especially Berea sandstone, along with tile roofs with flared eaves, polygonal turrets, and intricate ornamentation.
