Law Development Center
The Law Development Centre (LDC) is an educational institution in Uganda for higher learning that offers various legal courses ranging from one month to one year. Overview The LDC is the only institution in Uganda that offers the Bar Course leading to the award of the post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. In the early 2000s, the LDC was plagued by a high failure rate among students, as high as 90 percent in some years. The LDC, together with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the Uganda Law Society, have designed changes that include a pre-admission written examination for students, continuing education requirements for LDC lecturers, and instruction in teaching methods for all academic staff. The LDC library has also been updated with written literature as well as increased Internet access for students. Kampala
Kampala (, ) is the Capital city, capital and largest city of Uganda. Uganda Christian University
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is a private church-founded university administered by the Church of Uganda. It was the first private University in Uganda to be awarded a charter by the Government of Uganda. Erias Lukwago
Erias Lukwago Ssalongo (born 11 May 1970), is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. He is the lord mayor of the city of Kampala, the capital of Uganda and the largest metropolitan area in the country. He was first elected to that position on 14 January 2011. He was voted out of office on 25 November 2013 by councillors after a tribunal found him guilty of incompetence and abuse of office. The Kampala Capital City Authority councillors voted 29 to 3 to impeach him. He was re-instated on 28 November 2013 after the high court judge Yasin Nyanzi ordered Kampala minister Frank Tumwebaze to stop the implementation of the tribunal report that paved way for his censure. Sam Kutesa
Sam Kahamba Kutesa (born 1 February 1949) is a Ugandan politician, businessman and lawyer involved in several corruption cases. By the marriage of his daughter Charlotte Kutesa Muhoozi with Muhoozi he became part of the inner circle of president Museveni. Kutesa was the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Cabinet of Uganda, a position he held from 13 January 2005 and maintained through three cabinet reshuffles until May 2021. He was also the elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Mawogola County in Sembabule District. He was the President of the United Nations General Assembly during its 69th session in 2014–2015. Steven Kavuma
Steven Kavuma is a Ugandan judge and the immediate former deputy chief justice of Uganda. He was appointed to that post on 5 March 2015. From April 2013 until March 2015, he served as the acting Chief Justice of Uganda, pending the appointment of a substantive Chief Justice by the President of Uganda. However, the way Uganda's judiciary is configured, the Deputy Chief Justice is not a member of the Supreme Court of Uganda, but is a member of the Court of Appeal of Uganda. Bart Magunda Katureebe is a Ugandan judge and the former Chief Justice of Uganda. He was appointed to that position on 5 March 2015. Before that, he was a justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda. Background and education He was born on 20 June 1950, in Rugazi Village, Rubirizi District in the Western Region, Uganda, Western Region of Uganda to Yowana Magunda and Virginia Ngonzi. He went to Rugazi Primary School for his elementary schooling from 1957 until 1962. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga (born 24 May 1956) is a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the List of speakers of the Parliament of Uganda, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from 19 May 2011 until 21 May 2021. She currently serves as the Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda. Islamic University In Uganda
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is a multi-campus university offering courses at certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main campus of the university is in Mbale, about north-east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. History The idea to start IUIU was conceived at the second summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference in 1974. The university was inaugurated in February 1988 with 80 students. Nkumba University (NKU) is a chartered private university in Uganda. Kampala International University
Kampala International University (KIU) is a private, not-for-profit institution based in Uganda. It was established in 2001 and assumed chartered status in 2009.
