François De Laval
Francis-Xavier de Montmorency-Laval, commonly referred to as François de Laval (; 30 April 1623 – 6 May 1708), was a French Catholic prelate who served as Apostolic Vicar of New France from 1658 to 1674 and as Bishop of Quebec from its creation in 1674 until he retired due to poor health in 1688. He continued to work in New France until his death in 1708. Among his accomplishments was the founding of the Séminaire de Québec in 1663. Laval was a member of the Montmorency family, but renounced his rights as heir so he could pursue his ecclesiastical career. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 22 June 1980 and Pope Francis declared him a saint on 3 April 2014. Pierre Laval
Pierre Jean Marie Laval (; 28 June 1883 – 15 October 1945) was a French politician. He served as Prime Minister of France three times: 1931–1932 and 1935–1936 during the Third Republic (France), Third Republic, and 1942–1944 during Vichy France. After the war, Laval was tried as a Vichy France#Collaboration with Nazi Germany, Nazi collaborator and executed for treason. A socialist early in his life, Laval became a lawyer in 1909 and was famous for his defence of strikers, trade unionists and leftists from government prosecution. In 1914, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies (France), Chamber of Deputies as a member of the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO), and he remained committed to his pacifist convictions during the First World War. John Laval
John Laval (September 21, 1854 – June 4, 1937) was an American bishop of the Catholic Church. He served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New Orleans from 1911 to 1937. Biography Born in Saint-Étienne, Loire, France, Laval was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans on November 10, 1877. On September 7, 1911 Pope Pius X appointed him as the Titular Bishop of ''Hierocaesarea'' and Auxiliary Bishop of New Orleans. He was consecrated a bishop by Archbishop James Blenk, S.M. on November 29, 1911. The principal co-consecrators were Bishops Cornelius Van de Ven of Alexandria in Louisiana and John Shaw of San Antonio. He continued to serve as an auxiliary bishop until his death on June 4, 1937, at the age of 82. Jacques-Désiré Laval (18 September 1803 – 9 September 1864) was a French people, French Roman Catholic Church, Roman Catholic priest who served in the Catholic missions, missions in Mauritius; he was a professed member from the Holy Ghost Fathers, Spiritans. Erik Patrik Honoré de Laval (28 April 1888 – 9 November 1973) was a Swedish Army officer and modern pentathlete who won a silver medal at the 1920 Summer Olympics. Early life de Laval was born on 28 April 1888 in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of Patrik de Laval and his wife Elisabeth Lewin. Career de Laval was commissioned as an officer in 1909 and was assigned to Svea Artillery Regiment (A 1) in Stockholm as a ''underlöjtnant''.
