Laurentian High School (Ottawa)
Laurentian High School was a high school in the Central Park neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school opened in 1958 and provided education to grade 9 through 12 (and 13 from 1961 to 200) through an unsemestered curriculum as established by the Ministry of Education (Ontario), Ontario Ministry of Education. History The project generated some controversy as the Ottawa Collegiate Board presented a plan that included an auditorium, two gymnasiums, and a cafeteria. The Ottawa Property Owners Association, with support of Ottawa mayor Charlotte Whitton, objected to these as expensive and unneeded. The dispute delayed the construction of the school for some time. The sod was turned by Claude Biseau, former President of Carleton University on September 11, 1956. Ottawa mayor George H. Nelms placed the granite cornerstone on June 24, 1957. The Central Experimental Farm (CEF), commonly known as the Experimental Farm, is an agricultural facility, working farm, and research centre of the Science and Technology Branch, formerly the Research Branch, of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Glebe Collegiate Institute (GCI) is a high school in the Glebe neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Rideau High School was an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada . It was located at 815 St. Laurent Boulevard in the east end of the city on the edge of Vanier. It was located next to the Queen Elizabeth Public School. History The school opened in 1957 under Principal E. D. Hendry. Fisher Park High School (1949–1987) is a former High School in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located within a kilometre of Island Park Drive, at 250 Holland Ave., Fisher Park's student population included children of many of Ottawa's wealthier citizens and a large contingent of Ottawa's Portuguese and Italian communities. Nepean High School (often abbreviated to NHS) is a high school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the Westboro neighbourhood, at 574 Broadview Avenue. There were 1160 students enrolled for 2011–2012. Tracy Shapiro is the current principal replacing Alan Johnson, the principal from 2019 to 2021. The two current vice principals are Janice Isaac and Balazs Fazakas. History The school began as a continuation program at Broadview Public School. Students who wanted some years of secondary education, but were unable to travel to Ottawa Collegiate Institute could take a few courses on the top floor of Broadview.
