Laura Walker (curler)
Laura Walker (born November 19, 1990, as Laura Crocker) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. She is a two-time Canadian University champion, a national junior champion, world junior silver medallist and world mixed doubles bronze medallist. Walker is originally from Scarborough, Ontario. Career Juniors Walker began her junior curling career as a skip. In 2008, her Scarboro Golf & Country Club rink made it to the provincial junior championships where her team finished with a 2–5 record. In 2010, Walker was invited to join the Rachel Homan junior rink at the second position. The team's regular second, Alison Kreviazuk, was too old to play in juniors that season (but played with the team in World Curling Tour events). The rink would win the provincial championship and the 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, and would then make it to the final of the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships where they lost to Sweden. World Junior Curling Championships
The World Junior Curling Championships are an annual curling bonspiel featuring the world's best curlers who are 21 years old or younger. The competitions for both men and women occur at the same venue. The men's tournament has occurred since 1975 and the women's since 1988. Since curling became an Olympic Games, Olympic sport in 1998 Winter Olympics, 1998, the World Junior Curling Championship of the year preceding the Olympic Games have been held at the site of the curling tournament for the upcoming Games. The event had its origins with the Ontario Junior Masters Curling Championship, which began in 1968 and, at first, mostly consisted of teams in the Greater Toronto Area. Clancy Grandy
Clancy Grandy (born December 27, 1990, in Burlington, Ontario) is a Canadian curler originally from Ontario. Career Juniors Grandy's junior career was highlighted by winning the 2011 Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships with teammates Sarah Wilkes, Laura Crocker and Lynn Kreviazuk, defeating Jasmin Thurston in the final. The team represented Ontario at the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where the finished with a 5–7 record. Later that season, Grandy skipped the Guelph Gryphons University curling team at the 2011 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, finishing with a 2–5 record. Laura Crocker, her junior teammate won the event as the skip for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Lynn Kreviazuk
Lynn Elizabeth Kreviazuk (born May 2, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. She currently plays second on Team Carly Howard. Career Kreviazuk was the longtime lead for the Rachel Homan rink. She first joined the team in 2005 as its second. In 2006, the team won the Ontario Bantam Championship, followed by a gold medal at the Canada Winter Games the following season. In 2008, she became only the second female to skip a team to the Ontario Bantam Mixed Championship. Both in 2009 and 2010 as a member of the Homan rink, she won the provincial junior championships. She won again in 2011 as a member of the Clancy Grandy rink. In 2010, she won the Canadian Junior Curling Championships and a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and Doubles curling, mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending "1993 Seagram's VO Cup, V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Alison Kreviazuk
Alison Blair Kreviazuk (; born September 27, 1988) is a Canadian curler. Kreviazuk was born in Mississauga, Ontario, and grew up in the Nepean sector of Ottawa. She was the longtime second for the Rachel Homan rink, playing with her from 2002 to 2014. She currently serves as a national coach with the Swedish Curling Association. Career 2002 to 2014 Kreviazuk had been a member of the Homan rink from when it was formed in 2002, except some of the 2005–06 season and the 2009–10 season when she was too old to play for the team in some junior events, as she is a year older than Homan and her vice, Emma Miskew. Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curling, curler and the reigning women's world champion. Homan is a former 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Canadian junior champion, a five-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canadian national champion, and three-time World Champion, all as a skip (curling), skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide #Curling stone, stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area that is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two.
