Lata, Solomon Islands
Lata is the provincial capital of Temotu Province, Solomon Islands. As of 2007, it had 553 inhabitants. There are a few rest houses for overnight stays. There is a post office, telecom office and several stores. The town contains a small air strip with flights to Makira and Honiara. Shipping service is irregular, but occasionally transport can be found to Honiara or the outer islands. Outboard canoe travel around the island of Nendo or to the Reef Islands is possible. Temotu Province's main hospital, Lata Hospital is situated in Lata town. The only fixed-wing service is by Solomon Airlines. The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) used to provide its own helicopter flights fortnightly to Lata. During the ethnic tensions of 2003, there were no problems in Lata, mainly due to its being so far away from the capital, Honiara. Gulripshi District
Gulripshi District ( ka, გულრიფშის რაიონი, ) is a district of Abkhazia, one of Georgia’s breakaway republics. It corresponds to the eponymous Georgian district. Its capital is Gulripshi, the town by the same name. Until the August 2008 Battle of the Kodori Valley, the north-eastern part of Gulripshi district was part of Upper Abkhazia, the corner of Abkhazia controlled by Georgia until the Battle of the Kodori Valley during the August 2008 South Ossetia War. Upper Abkhazia was home to 1,956 of the district's 19,918 inhabitants, most of whom were ethnic Svans (a subgroup of the Georgian people). Most of these fled before the battle and have not yet returned. Of note is the Dranda Cathedral sitting over a shrine built by Justinian in 551. Lāṭa
Lata (IAST: Lāṭa) was a historical region of India, located in the southern part of the present-day Gujarat state. Location and extent ''Shakti-Sangam-Tantra'', a Shakt sampradaya text composed before 7th century CE, states that Lata was located to the west of Avanti (India) and to the north-west of Vidarbha. According to Tej Ram Sharma, Lata's northern boundary was formed by the Mahi River, or at times, by the Narmada River. In the south, Lata extended up to the Purna River, and at times, up to Daman. It included Surat, Bharuch, Kheda and Vadodara. According to Georg Bühler, Lata was the area between Mahi River and Kim River, and its major city was Bharuch. Lokša or lokše ( and respectively; may be written in English as loksha or lokshe) is a type of potato pancake like flatbread, popular in the cuisine of Slovakia and South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. In South Moravia, lokše is also a term for wide noodles added to soups. Name Lokšas are also regionally known as ''lata'', ''přesňák'', ''šumpál'' or ''patenta'' in the Czech Republic, and ''lokeš'' or ''lokoš'' in Slovakia. Preparation Lokšas are made from boiled unpeeled potatoes, which are later peeled, grated, and mixed with flour and salt. The dough is made and rolled out into the thin pancakes, which are baked dry on a hot plate. In Slovakia, the salty variant is more popular, where the finished pancakes are spread with lard (preferably goose), and tasted to the soup, or filled with sauerkraut or minced meat.
