Lashio District
Lashio District ( my, လားရှိုးခရိုင်) is a district of Shan State in Myanmar. It consisted of four towns and 2431 villages in 2001. Districts Of Burma
Districts ( my, ခရိုင်, Kharuing; ) are the second-level administrative divisions of Myanmar. They are the sub-divisions of the States and Regions of Myanmar. According to the Myanmar Information Management Unit (MIMU), as of December 2015, there are 76 districts in Myanmar, which in turn are subdivided into townships, then towns, wards and villages. The District's role is more supervisory as the Townships are the basic administrative unit of local governance. A District is led by a District Administrator, a civil servant appointed through the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA). The Minister of Home Affairs is to be appointed by the military according to the 2008 constitution. Mongyai Township
Mongyai Township is a township of Lashio District in the Shan State of eastern Burma. The principal town is Mongyai. Mount Loi Leng (1,823 m) of Mongyai is the highest point in Shan State. History Historically Mong Yai was the capital of South Hsenwi state. Sao Hso Holm, ex-saopha of Mongyai was one of the founders of Shan Nationalities League for Democracy in October 1988. Khun Sa was born in Loi Maw of Mongyai Township at 17 February 1934. There were several skirmishes between Myanmar Army and Shan State Army in Mongyai during 2011. Mong Maoe Township ( Wa: mēng hmae; shn, ၸႄႈဝဵင်းမိူင်းမႂ်ႇ, translit=tsāaewéng Moeng Hmaue, lit=township of New Territories, my, မိုင်းမောမြို့နယ်), locally known as Moeknu (Wa: Mōuig Nū), is a township of Hopang District of Shan State. Tangyan Township
Tangyan Township is a township of Lashio District in the Shan State of eastern Burma. The principal town is Tangyan. Tangyan emerged as an important centre for Panthay people (Chinese Muslims originally from neighbouring Yunnan) in the mid-20th century, especially after the destruction of Panglong during World War II. History There were clashes between Shan State Army (SSA) and Myanmar Army in Tangyan in 2011. Myanmar Army deployed local militias to monitor the SSA movement. SSA accused Myanmar Army using chemical weapon and recruiting women as forced porters in Tangyan during resume clashes. Some school teachers were killed also.
