Lara House (Las Piñas)
The Lara House is a historic house located in Las Piñas, Metro Manila, Philippines. Built in the 1880s, the house was the first municipal hall of Las Piñas where its first mayor, Juan Tiongkiao, held office from 1905 to 1913. Along with its growth, the seat of power of Las Piñas continued to adapt with several changes as well. History Don Calixto Lara, who used to own salt beds and lands, and his wife Andeng Velasquez were the original owners of the house. Don Calixto Lara was one of the 95 men that gathered and assembled for the Act of Philippine Declaration of Independence, signed by the War Counsellor and Special Delegate-Designate, Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista. Diego Cera Avenue
Padre Diego Cera Avenue, or simply Diego Cera Avenue, is a major north-south collector road in Las Piñas, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is a four-lane undivided arterial running parallel to the Manila–Cavite Expressway to the west from Manuyo Uno at Las Piñas' border with Parañaque in the north to Zapote near the border with Bacoor in the south. It is a continuation of Elpidio Quirino Avenue from Parañaque and was originally a segment of ''Calle Real'' in Las Piñas. The road is a component of the N62 highway (Philippines), National Route 62 (N62) of the Philippine highway network and Radial Road 2 (R-2) of Manila's arterial road network. Ventanilla (Philippine Architecture)
In Philippine architecture, the ventanilla is a small window or opening below a larger window's casement, created—often reaching the level of the floor—to allow either additional air into a room during hot days or some air during hot nights when the main window's panes are drawn. It also allows for more light to strike the floor. The ventanilla is often used on upper floor windows, as in the ''bahay na bato''. As the lower part of a composite window, its larger upper part is typically a window with sliding ''capiz'' shell-paned panels. The ventanilla is just under this upper large window's sill and is typically made with sliding panel-covers behind balusters or grills. Bobby Mañosa's traditional methods for his design of the Coconut Palace is considered as displaying a fine example of how ventanillas can be applied in modern Philippine architecture. Capiz Shell Window
In Architecture of the Philippines, Philippine architecture, the capiz shell window is a type of window with small Paned window (architecture), panes that use the translucent and durable ''capiz'' shell (windowpane oyster shell) instead of glass. The Chinese were presumably the first to utilize the shell, the dissemination of which use has been credited to the Portuguese; extensive and widespread use of the shell for windows and other handicraft products as a substitute for the then more scarce and more expensive glass was seen in Portuguese settlements as well as in India in the 17th century. Alabang–Zapote Road
Alabang–Zapote Road is a four-lane national road which travels east–west through the southern limits of Metro Manila, Philippines. It runs parallel to Dr. Santos Avenue in the north and is named after the two barangays it links: Alabang, Muntinlupa and Zapote in Bacoor and Las Piñas. From its eastern terminus at an interchange with South Luzon Expressway's Alabang Exit, East Service Road, Manila South Road, and Montillano Street, the road runs westwards for approximately to the junction with Diego Cera Avenue. Since 1997, it has also extended further west for several hundred meters, connecting Las Piñas to its present terminus at Coastal Road ( R-1) in Bacoor, Cavite. Cynthia Villar
Cynthia Aguilar Villar (, born Cynthia Ampaya Aguilar on July 29, 1950) is a Filipina politician currently serving as a Senator of the Philippines. She was a member of the House of Representatives for the Lone District of Las Piñas from 2001 to 2010 before winning a seat in the Senate in 2013, placing tenth. Villar was re-elected for a second term in the Senate in the 2019 Philippine Senate elections, earning what was then the most votes in senate election history, until this number was surpassed by Robin Padilla in 2022. Las Piñas (, officially the City of Las Piñas (), is a Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, highly urbanized city in the Metro Manila, National Capital Region of the Philippines.
