La Porrassa
La Porrassa is a small farm town in the Municipalities of Spain, municipality of Calvià on the island of Majorca, part of the Spain, Spanish autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It is adjacent to Son Ferrer to the west and Magaluf on the south. The municipality's promenade, the Paseo Calvia, winds through La Porrassa. It has a population of approximately 128 inhabitants. History The army of King James I of Aragon camped in the La Porrassa area when he started the conquest of the island. There are only a few houses besides the large country farmhouse of the landowner. The farmhouse was built between 1595 and 1616 with sandstone and stone masonry. It has a tower for defense that stands above sea level. A masia in Catalan (or and ) is a type of rural construction common to the east of Spain: Catalonia, Valencian Community, Aragon, Languedoc and Provence (in the south of France). The estate in which the masia is located is called a mas. They are often large but isolated structures, nearly always associated with a family farming or livestock operation. Through the ages, the materials used to construct masias varied, often determined by their location. In mountainous areas, rough stone was often used, except for doorways, windows and arches, where stone was worked. Calvià
Calvià () is a municipality on the island of Majorca, part of the Spanish autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It is located in the southwestern part of the island of Majorca, between the Serra de Tramuntana and the Serra de Na Burguesa. The municipal seat is the town of Calvià Vila.
