LGBTQ+ Victory Fund (formerly the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and LGBTQ Victory Fund), commonly shortened to Victory Fund, is an American political action committee dedicated to increasing the number of out LGBTQ+ public officials in the United States. Victory Fund is the largest LGBTQ+ political action committee in the United States and one of the nation's largest non-connected PACs. A 527 organization or 527 group is a type of U.S. tax-exempt organization organized under Section 527 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (). A 527 group is created primarily to influence the selection, nomination, election, appointment or defeat of candidates to federal, state or local public office. Sherry D. Harris (born February 27, 1957) is an American activist and politician who served as a member of the Seattle City Council from 1992 to 1996. She was the first out black lesbian elected to public office in the United States. Early life and education Harris was born on February 27, 1957, in Newark, New Jersey, to a single mom. She grew up in Newark's ghetto as an only child and experienced poverty and other hardships, including the 1967 Newark riots. Virginia Lynn Linder (born April 20, 1953) is an American judge from Oregon who served as the 99th justice of the Oregon Supreme Court from January 2007 until January 2016. Victoria Kolakowski (born August 29, 1961) is an American lawyer who serves as a judge of the Alameda County Superior Court since January 2011.
