San Xavier, Arizona
San Xavier is a populated place in Pima County, Arizona, United States, situated seventeen miles southwest of Tucson, and six miles northwest of Sahuarita. Originally a small silver mining camp from the 1880s, today San Xavier is little more than a collection of rural homes and partially abandoned mines. The ghost towns of Azurite and Mineral Hill were located about one mile north of San Xavier. Twin Buttes was five miles southeast. History The San Xavier Mining & Smelting Company was established in 1880 by Colonel C. P. Skyes, who named his company after the San Xavier Mission, ten miles northeast. James Kwak (born 1969) is an American lawyer and professor of law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is best known as co-founder, with Simon Johnson, in September 2008, of the economics blog "The Baseline Scenario", a commentary on developments in the global economy, law, and public policy. Career Kwak received his A.B. ''magna cum laude'' in 1990 from Harvard University and his Ph.D. on French intellectual history in 1997 from the University of California, Berkeley (1997). Kwak has worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company and later was Director of Product Marketing at Ariba, where he led product strategy and marketing for the Platform Solutions division and the Ariba Network. Geesje Kwak (born Gezina Kwak; 17 April 1877 – 1899) was a Dutch model for the painter and photographer George Breitner. She became known for the series of seven paintings (and accompanying photo studies) that Breitner made of her in 1893 and 1894 as the girl in red and white kimonos, lying on a sofa and standing in front of a mirror in an oriental interior. Life Gezina Kwak was born on 17 April 1877, in Zaandam, North-Holland, Netherlands. Kwak moved to Amsterdam in 1893 at the age of sixteen with her elder sister Anna. Kwak became a seamstress and a hat seller. She and her sister first lived in the Govert Flinckstraat, and then in the Tweede van Swindenstraat in Dapperbuurt. Nang Kwak () is a Bodhisattva, Household deity, household goddess or Spirit (supernatural entity), Spirit of Thai folklore. She is deemed to bring good fortune, prosperity and attract customers to a business.
