''Kutless'' is the debut album of Christian rock group, Kutless, released July 16th, 2002. The songs "Run" and "Your Touch" both reached No. 1 song on ChristianRock.net, and "Tonight" was in the Top 5. The album reached The ''Billboard'' Top Heatseekers Albums chart peaking at No. 48. The album also reached the ''Billboard'' Christian Albums chart peaking at No. 27. It is the only Kutless album to feature bassist Nathan Stuart, who left the band shortly after its release. Kutless is an American Christian rock band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 1999. Since their formation, they have released multiple studio albums and one live album, '' Live from Portland''. They have sold over 3 million records worldwide. History Earlier years (1999–2000) The band was formed in Portland, Oregon, as a campus worship band named "Call Box". They performed during the 1999–2000 school year at Warner Pacific College. Their first guitarist, Andrew Morrison, decided to leave the band shortly before they signed with BEC records. James Mead replaced Morrison at lead guitar. The Band changed their name to "Kutless" in October 2001, before releasing their first three-track EP followed up by their full-length album in 2002 on BEC Recordings. Kutless chose their name because of a Bible verse. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (NRSV). The Bible is a collection of religious texts that are central to Christianity and Judaism, and esteemed in other Abrahamic religions such as Islam. Kris McCaddon
Kris McCaddon is an American musician. He was the second guitarist for the metalcore band Society's Finest and lead guitarist for Demon Hunter. He was also the vocalist for the bands Embodyment and The Famine. Since McCaddon left the Famine in 2010, he has not been active in the music industry as a recording or performing artist. History McCaddon's career started in 1994 when he joined the band Embodyment. They released their debut album, ''Embrace the Eternal'', in 1998; it featured guest vocals by Living Sacrifice vocalist Bruce Fitzhugh. ''Embrace the Eternal'' would later be re-released by their record label, Solid State Records. He left the band in 2000 before recording their second album, ''The Narrow Scope of Things''. Tooth & Nail Records is a record label founded by Brandon Ebel in California in November 1993. The label later moved to Seattle where it is today. History Brandon Ebel and Michael Knott conceived the label as a joint venture, before Knott backed out. Prior to forming Tooth & Nail, Ebel worked for Frontline Records. Tooth & Nail's first album released was Wish for Eden's ''Pet the Fish.'' In 2002, the label bought out Takehold Records. Loop (music)
In music, a loop is a repeating section of sound material. Short sections can be repeated to create ostinato patterns. Longer sections can also be repeated: for example, a player might loop what they play on an entire verse of a song in order to then play along with it, accompanying themselves. Loops can be created using a wide range of music technologies including turntables, digital samplers, looper pedals, synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines, tape machines, and delay units, and they can be programmed using computer music software. Jon Micah Sumrall
Jon Micah Sumrall (born October 13, 1980) is an American musician and the lead vocalist of the Christian rock band Kutless. He occasionally plays acoustic guitar and piano for the band as well. Sumrall has been a member of Kutless since he started the band with James Mead and Ryan Shrout in 2001. It began as the worship band, Call Box, while Sumrall was still in college. He released ''Faith & Family'', with BEC Recordings, in 2015. He is the band's only remaining original member and, alongside rhythm guitarist James Mead, the only member to appear on every album. Early life Sumrall grew up in a Christian home. He says: "My dad was one of the pastors at Applegate Christian Fellowship and my whole family was very involved with the church on a daily basis. Cross Rhythms is a Christian media organisation based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. It operates an FM and online radio station, produces radio shows sent internationally, and its website has resources about contemporary Christian music. History 1983–2002 In 1983, Chris Cole started a 30-minute weekly Christian music radio show on Plymouth Sound FM, an Independent Local Radio station in Plymouth.
