Kumar Deepak Das
Kumar Deepak Das, a politician from Asom Gana Parishad party, is a Member of the Parliament of India representing Assam in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament. He served as Minister of state in cultural affairs in his last term as MLA in the year 1985. He is a writer, singer and actor. He was born in 1958 in a small town Bijni in Chirang district of Assam to Ramani Mohan Das and Ganga Priya Das. He completed his school from Bijni Bandhab High School. He did his +2 from Arya College, Guwahati. He earned his bachelor in science degree from Madhav Choudhury College in Barpeta (also his constituency) with honors. He completed his LLB from Gauhati University. He has authored many books like Mahanagaror Kanthaswar, Mahuror Pare-Pare (based on Dimasa culture), Jibanir Madhuri, Bibhinna Dinar Chinta, Bhikshowar Choka Toruwal. Indramoni Bora
Indramoni Bora (19 February 1937 – 28 December 2019) was a veteran Indian politician, Member of Parliament and President of Bharatiya Janata Party in Assam. He was born to Senior Advocate and Freedom Fighter Mr. K.R. Bora and Mrs. Nalini Bora, the 7th out of their 8 children. Dimasa People
The Dimasa people () are an ethnolinguistic community presently inhabiting in Assam and Nagaland states in Northeastern India. They speak Dimasa, a Tibeto-Burman language. This community is fairly homogeneous and exclusive, with members required to draw from both parents' separate clans. Dimasa kingdom, one of many early states in Assam following the downfall of Kamarupa kingdom, was established by these people. The Dimasas were till recently agricultural, centering on shifting agriculture; but in recent times this has changed with profound changes in the community. Rajya Sabha Members From Assam
The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Assam elects 7 seats since 1956 (one more than 1952-1956). Members are indirectly elected by state legislators (elected politicians) of Assam. The number of the seven seats allocated to each party is proportional to the legislators' number at the time of nomination. Each party in Assam thus meeting a minimum quota of of the local seats nominates a member; if a party has to ths of the local seats those legislators select two members (and so forth). Hem Barua
Hem Barua (Assamese: হেম বৰুৱা) was a prominent Assamese poet and politician from Assam. Early life Born on 22 April 1915, at Tezpur, Hem Barua obtained his M.A. degree from Calcutta University in 1938 and joined the J.B. College, Jorhat, in 1941 as lecturer in Assamese and English. He left it next year during the Quit India Movement and was imprisoned in 1943. On his release, he joined the B. Barua College, Guwahati, and later became its Principal. Literary career Hem Barua was the author of several books.
