Wolfgang Kröger
Wolfgang Kröger (born August 27, 1945 in Herne, Germany) has been full professor of Safety Technology at the ETH Zurich since 1990 and director of the Laboratory of Safety Analysis simultaneously. Before being elected Founding Rector of International Risk Governance Council (IRGC) in 2003, he headed research in nuclear energy and safety at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI). After his retirement early 2011 he became the Executive Director of the newly established ETH Risk Center. He has both Swiss and German citizenship and lives in Kilchberg, Zürich. His seminal work lies in the general area of reliability, risk and vulnerability analysis of large-scale technical systems, initially single complicated systems like nuclear power plants of different types and finally complex engineered networks like power supply systems, the latter coupled to other critical infrastructure and controlled by cyber-physical systems. Jürgen Kröger
Jürgen Kröger (16 November 1856 in Haale, Germany – 27 February 1928 in Aukrug) was a German architect, active from 1880 to 1920. He bore the title "(kaiserlicher) Baurat" in 1908, and was an architectural advisor to German Emperor Wilhelm II. Kröger is most notable for his construction of Protestant church buildings. The poet Timm Kröger was his uncle. Biography Kröger began his training in 1873 at the Göttsche master carpentry school in Hohenwestedt. He passed his architecture exams with honors in 1880 from a school in Eckernförde. Then he worked as a construction specialist in the construction division of the War Department in Altona, Hamburg. In 1882, he was hired to work in the Berlin office of the famous architect Johannes Otzen. Erhard Kroeger or Kröger (24 March 1905, Riga – 24 September 1987) was a Baltic German SS officer involved in the resettlement of Baltic Germans before World War II. He commanded an Einsatzgruppe in 1941, and was later attached to General Andrey Vlasov and the German sponsored Russian Liberation Army of World War II. He was convicted of war crimes in 1969. Early years Erhard Kroeger grew up in Riga, Russian Empire, a member of the historic Baltic German minority there. In his youth, he played ice hockey with Wilfried Strik-Strikfeldt.
