Kryvyi Torets
The Kryvyi Torets (; ) is a river in eastern Ukraine. The river travels in the Pokrovsk, Horlivka, and Kramatorsk Districts in the Donetsk Oblast, and is a right tributary of the Kazennyi Torets. Characteristics The river has a total length of , and a basin size of . The river begins in the village of Riasne, near the city of Makiivka. The river flows through the cities of Niu-York, Toretsk, and Kostiantynivka before flowing into the Kazennyi Torets in the city of Druzhkivka. Ecology The water in the river is highly polluted. Kostiantynivka
Kostiantynivka (, ; ) is an industrial city in Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It is situated on the Kryvyi Torets river. During the History of the Soviet Union, Soviet era, the city developed into a major centre for the production of iron, zinc, steel, and glass. Administratively, it is incorporated as a City of regional significance (Ukraine), city of oblast significance. It was the administrative center of the Kostiantynivka Raion until 2020, although it did not belong to it. After the raion was abolished, Kostiantynivka was incorporated into the Kramatorsk Raion. Its population is approximately 15,000 (2025 estimate). History In 1870, Kostiantynivka was founded by a landowner named Nomikossov, who built the settlement in honor of his oldest son, Kostiantyn. Kramatorsk Raion
Kramatorsk Raion (; ) is a Raions of Ukraine, raion (district) of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It was created in July 2020 as part of the reform of administrative divisions of Ukraine. The center of the raion is the town of Kramatorsk. Population: The 2020 administrative reform increased the raion in size merging with Oleksandrivka Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Oleksandrivka Raion, Lyman Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Lyman Raion, Kostiantynivka Raion, and Sloviansk Raion. The sulfate or sulphate ion is a polyatomic anion with the empirical formula . Salts, acid derivatives, and peroxides of sulfate are widely used in industry. Sulfates occur widely in everyday life. Druzhkivka
Druzhkivka (, ; ) is a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It was previously a city of regional significance before the status was abolished. Population: As of April 2024, the city's population was over 31,000. Druzhkivka is located near the confluence of the Kryvyi Torets and Kazennyi Torets rivers, about 80 km northeast of Donetsk. History Historical records indicate that a settlement named Druzhkivka was established in this area by 1781. Toretsk
Toretsk (; ) is an industrial city in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It served as the administrative center of Toretsk urban hromada. As of January 2022, its population was approximately It has its origins as the hamlet Shcherbynivka, built during the mid-19th century developments in coal mining in the Donbas region. It developed over the following century with the rise of rail transport. Between 1936–2016, the city was named Dzerzhynsk after Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Soviet security service Cheka. The ''Encyclopedia of Ukraine'' (), published from 1984 to 2001, is a fundamental work of Ukrainian Studies. Development The work was created under the auspices of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in Europe (Sarcelles, near Paris). As the ''Encyclopedia of Ukrainian Studies'' it conditionally consists of two parts, the first being a general part that consists of a three volume reference work divided in to subjects or themes. The second part is a 10 volume encyclopedia with entries arranged alphabetically. The editor-in-chief of Volumes I and II (published in 1984 and 1988 respectively) was Volodymyr Kubijovyč. Eastern Ukraine
Eastern Ukraine or East Ukraine (; ) is primarily the territory of Ukraine east of the Dnipro (or Dnieper) river, particularly Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts (provinces).
