Samuel Eleazar Kronenberg
Samuel Eleazer Kronenberg (né ''Lejzor Hirszowicz Kronenberg''; 1773–1826) was a Polish-Jewish banker and industrialist. The son of Hirsz Kronenberg, he was also a brother of Anna Maria Kronenberżanka Breslauerowa (1781-1853). Originally from Wyszogród, he later moved to Warsaw and founded the S. L. Kronenberg Bank. He had thirteen children with his wife, Tekla Teresa (née Lewyanka) Kronenberżyna (1775-1848). Eight of their children, including five sons, survived. Among the surviving sons was Leopold Stanisław Kronenberg (1812-1878), who became a Crypto-Jewish Calvinist in order to maintain economic security. Leopold and at least two of the other sons became bankers and important figures in Polish politics, and several of his children married into other aristocratic families. Leopold Stanisław Kronenberg (born 24 March 1812 in Warsaw, died 5 April 1878 in Nice) was a Polish banker, investor, and financier, and a leader of the 1863 January uprising against the Russian Empire. Family Kronenberg came from a wealthy family of Jewish rabbis. His father Samuel Eleazar Kronenberg (1773–1826) was a native of Wyszogród who led a small bank in Warsaw. Władysław Edward Kronenberg (June 27, 1848 in Warsaw – April 16, 1892 in Cannes), Polish engineer, industrialist and composer of Jewish origin. Władysław Edward Kronenberg was born as the son of a banker Leopold Stanisław Kronenberg (1812-1878) and Ernestine Rosalie Leo (1827-1893), daughter of Leopold August Leo. He had five siblings: Stanisław Leopold, Leopold Julian, Tekla Julia, Marię Różę, and Różę Marię Karolinę. His parents were both from families of Jewish origin, but were baptized in the Evangelical Reformed church, and brought up their children as such, including Wladyslaw. Baron Leopold Julian Kronenberg (27 July 1849, in Warsaw – 23 February 1937, in Warsaw) was a Polish banker. Biography Kronenberg was born the son of banker and railroad tycoon Leopold Stanisław Kronenberg (1812–1878) and his wife Ernestyną Rozalią Leo (1827-1893). Both parents came from Jewish families which had converted to Protestantism—the Kronenbergs, to Calvinism. Leopold Julian Kronenberg's five siblings were banker Stanisław Leopold, composer Władysław Edward, Tekla Julia, Marię Różę, and Różę Marię Karolinę. Anne Kronenberg is an American political administrator and LGBT rights activist. She is best known for being Harvey Milk's campaign manager during his historic San Francisco Board of Supervisors campaign in 1977 and his aide as he held that office until he and mayor George Moscone were assassinated. As an openly lesbian political activist, Kronenberg was noted for her instrumental role in the gay rights movement, both for Milk's campaign and in her own right, though she has since married a man.
