Koundjili
Koundjili is a village in Lim-Pendé prefecture, Central African Republic. It is one of the three villages where the 2019 Ouham Pende Massacre occurred. History In response to the killing of a Fulani trader in Koundjili, 3R rebels attacked Koundjili on 21 May 2019 for revenge. They killed 13 villagers and looted a shop. On 27 May 2020, 3R militias returned to Koundjili and occupied it. As a result, the villagers took refuge in the bush and some went to Paoua Paoua is a town located in the Central African Republic prefecture of Lim-Pendé.The town is the birthplace of the former president of the Central African Republic, Ange-Félix Patassé and mathematician, Gaston Nguérékata. Return, Reclamation, Rehabilitation (abbreviated 3R, ) is a rebel group in the northwestern part of Central African Republic. The group was formed in December 2015 to protect Fulani herders from Anti-balaka militia attacks.Amnesty InternationalCENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC 2017/2018 The group has launched attacks on numerous towns, killed unarmed civilians and UN peacekeepers, and carried out several kidnappings. Their former leader, Sidiki Abass, was sanctioned in 2020 by the United States government, and members of the group have been sentenced by the Central African Republic's Special Criminal Court. History The group were initially restricted to the Ouham-Pendé prefecture. In 2016, they captured the towns of De Gaulle and Niem, killing at least 17 civilians in the process. Paoua
Paoua is a town located in the Central African Republic prefecture of Lim-Pendé.The town is the birthplace of the former president of the Central African Republic, Ange-Félix Patassé and mathematician, Gaston Nguérékata. History In 1994, electricity was installed in Paoua. Paoua and its surrounding territories have become something of a ghost town after rebel and government soldier attacks in 2006 and 2007, with much of the population fleeing into the bush or into refugee camps. On 28 March 2013 Paoua was captured by Séléka rebels. In January 2014 the town was captured by rebels from Revolution and Justice group. On 12 January 2018 MINUSCA launched operation Mbaranga securing Paoua city and forcing armed groups to move 50 km from the city.
